I thought I saw a post in this forum where someone had converted slides to digital photos by projecting the slides onto some kind of board or wall then took pictures of the projection.

Does anyone remember this? Or has anyone done this? Do you have to have some kind of special lens or skills?

Thank you! I have so many slides from my father from when I was a kid -- it's all he used to take when we were on vacation. This will be really helpful to convert them to digital!

Here is my solution:

The duplicator just needs to be aimed at a light source with a known color balance (Ott-Light or white board under a clear sky works well). No tripod is necessary as the slide is mounted to the camera so no relative movement exists, a slow shutter speed is ok.

If you don't mind a cropped duplicate of the original then the duplicator works as is, otherwise it needs a slight modification to copy the entire original.

Yes, that's an old D30 and it still takes great photographs!
