I'm headed to WDW for a conventiom at CR and have aroom book there. They just opened overflow at AKL and now I'm torn. I've always wanted to stay at both but no way could I afford it without the convention rate. I'm flying in the day before the convention and leaving for a cruise the day after, so not much park time. Costs for both resorts are the same, and there is a shuttle from AKL to CR. WWYD - keep CR or trade for AKL? Just me except for the last night when my mom will join me before our cruise...

AKL is much more beautiful but you say you're there for a convention so I'm guessing you won't have much time to explore the resort? To enjoy AKL you really need time at the resort. When we went MK to AKL on the shuttle bus it was a solid 25 mins one way so a good chunk of your time could be eaten up just in transit if you have to go back and forth between AKL & CR. Time you could be spending enjoying CR or what's nearby!

Since you've always wanted to stay at both, I would stick with the CR. It's going to save so much time just being able to walk over to the convention center instead of having to bus over. You also can maximize time that you can spend in the park by having such quick access to two of them. Already being limited on time, I would choose the resort that would allow me to spend the most time at the park or relaxing, and not on a bus.

Think of this scenario, you just got out for the day and want to go to the MK. If you're staying at CR, you just head to your room and change into park clothes, then walk right over. If you're staying at AKL you would have to bring a change of clothes, change in a bathroom, and then store your stuff in a locker or something. Otherwise it's MK in a suit.

They are both nice hotels, but to me convenience would be king in this situation.

I would also vote to stay at CR, because AKL is much cheaper then CR and you will be able to afford AKL sooner then you would CR. Plus, you will not have to hassle with being shuttled between the 2 resorts for the convention.

I would stay with the CR. I have stayed at the AKL for convention stays, and you end up spending a LOT of time on the bus. It is very inconvenient having to carry everything all day, as you can't run back to your room to drop things off.

I hadn't even thought about all the stuff one would have to carry around at the convention. I was so distracted by the thought of going to a theme park in work clothes.

Stick witH CR. Convenience wins out in this case.
