convention tickets?

I've got a dilemma. My parents purchased 2 day park hopper convention tickets from the Disney meetings website for the four of us. My parents were under the assumption that because I'm doing the marathon that it counted as a convention (okay, maybe they are trying to get a deal). Anyhoo...I'm very concerned now (by that I mean totally freaking out and unable to sleep) that my parents and I will try to use these tickets and be turned away because none of us is a convention attendee. I can't ever remember anyone paying attention to your ticket as long it went through the machine and these look like normal tickets but in my imagination a siren goes off above our heads and the Disney police come haul us away.

Am I freaking out over nothing?

You will not have a problem using convention tix. Although they are technically suppose to be for conferences and conventions, anyone can purchase them online. They have no way of knowing if you belong with a "group" or what have you.

We had convention tickets and had no problem. Our convention was our group of 12.

Our family group of 7 bought 5-day convention tickets last March. My sister purchased them because she WAS attending a convention, but the rest of us used them without a hitch. None of us was ever questioned at the gates. And we park hopped a LOT.

My family of four will be at the BWV next October. We're waiting to see if the new ticketing will have an effect on convention tickets - my DH will be attending a medical convention.

If you have already received the tickets, there will be no problem. If you are going to pick the tickets up somewhere in WDW, you may be asked to show some sort of convention ID.

I bought the 2 day hopper convention tickets and just used them this past weekend. No problems whatsoever!!!
