Convention Tickets and Fast Passes Question

Does anyone know how this works with Convention tickets? DH is attending a convention in October. I am allowed to get convention tickets as an accompanying spouse. Can I buy the tickets ahead of time?Can I book fastpasses with these? I know October is especially busy with Food & Wine, and conventions.
