contractor nightmare - advice please

Sorry, it just occured to me that this probably isn't a small claims kind of job, be sure to get a lawyer right away, but DO NOT LET HIM DO ANYMORE WORK!

aahmom - we DID get references from friends of friends. I also checked with the BBB & CPB before hiring him and they had nothing bad on him.

I appreciate everyone's advice here - I knew I'd get the best of it on the DIS.

Well, as of this morning - my DH wants me to wait until the due date for the windows and let him install them - it's getting colder now and don't want to have to wait for a new contractor to order them again. If we at least get those in and he still drags things out, we'll go from there - these are pretty expensive themselves.

I'm ready and prepared to go straight for a lawyer, the BBB, his insurance company with video/pics and our local newstation if I am forced to. I wish the inspector could fire him!

Per the inspector I should give him one more chance to fix the wall. My kids bedrooms look great - sturdy - solid, the bathroom is fine, laundry closet is fine, hallway and attic and entrance to that are great.

My bedroom has been the big issue along with the stairs. The stairs are corrected now. But his cuts are never flush or straight - I can tell when he did the cutting or his brother did them. His brother is much more precise and tight fitting with his work.

How do I find out if there's a lien on my house from him? (afraid to backpage to who mentioned this and lose my post)
