Continuing reservation question

I was all excited yesterday because I finally got 2 AKL savannah view rooms with an AP discount. Since the code is only valid for 10 nights, I had to make 2 reservations for our 13 night stay. The CM said she would link the 2 reservations together in waht she called a "continuing reservation".

Last night I was reading the boards and came upon a post about a continuing reservation. It said that you had to check out and then check back in again and there was also a possibility that you would have to move to another room. The CM never mentioned this when I was making my reservations.

Do they really make you move to another room? Why? What would be the point if both reservations are for the same room catagory? The only reason for having a guest move that I can come up with would be if you only have 1 room, but it is a connecting room and another guest needs that connecting room. Since we have 2 rooms and the reservation reads "guaranteed connecting rooms for families", I can not come up with a reason.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with this matter? I was so happy yesterday, but now I am worried about having to repack and unpack everything and lose a day.

Thanks.

The possibility always exists that you would have to move but the reality is that it is hardly ever necessary. Disney tells you that you may have to move to cover themselves. The reservations CM did the right thing marking them continuing reservations. All you need to do now is to mention it to the front desk CM who checks you in for your first reservation. You should not have a problem about changing rooms.

But you will definitely have to do the check out-check in part of the equation again. Your second reservation is a new one to Disney's computer system and it requires you to check out at the front desk from the first one and check in for the second one. You will get new resort ID's issued for the second one as well, even if you keep the same room.

Yeah I had asked that same question earlier somewhere, and the majority have said they have not had to change rooms unless they were changing room categories. There were no AP rates for check in on Dec 4th but we could get AP rate for the remaining days 5th-13th so I am just not going to unpack until I hear for sure I don't have to move. At least my one day reservation is at the beginning of the trip. But I am like the others I would not see why you would have to move especially if they marked it as a continuing reservation.

I guess it's possible that your first reservation winds up in a section of the resort that's being blocked out for a convention or scheduled to be closed for renovation.

I'd think unless the resort was 100% sold out they wouldn't put you in that section in the first place.

So, what I'm hearing is that having to change rooms is highly unlikely. I feel much better. Thanks.b
