Saw this on from Al Lutz describing the consequences of the FP+/MDE cost overruns for the Florida parks:

Avatarland for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it appears, has now been scaled back to one flying simulator ride, a handful of shops, and a restaurant. Also canned are any plans to do much of anything with Disney’s Hollywood Studios in WDW, or even consider anything for years at WDW’s Magic Kingdom once the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train opens next month.

No, I am not at all surprised that some of the usual suspects would pick up on a report from some blogger and treat it as the gospel.

But it's definitely okay for positive blog reports to be treated as gospel around here.

I guess if it's true we'll have to wait for the official blog post from Disney detailing the magical scaling back of Avatarland.

I don't take anything from Internet bloggers as gospel.

So Wendy is not being truthful when she reports that they removed the chicken skewers from O'hana recently and raised the price? :)

I guess I just don't see where you expect negative information to come from. Shooting it down just because it comes from a blogger doesn't make much sense. This might be true, it might not be, but Disney sure doesn't release this kind of info.

Exactly.

I don't understand....with record attendance + higher prices (which, of course equals record profits,) are we assuming that now poor old Disney is broke? And now they must shutter the plans for future development in all parks?

Got a link to go with that quote? I heard Al Lutz was very sick and wasn't blogging anymore....

You are welcome to take it however you want. However, if you take a look at how FP+ exposed both AK and HS as lacking in enough headlining attractions and then look to see what Disney is doing about it, well you'd probably find he's right. (it also exposes Epcot as being in need of a serious facelift, as well as more headliner attractions)

You really think Disney doesn't have a cap on theme park spending? It has nothing to do with them being broke.

Or maybe they were surprised by the less than enthusiastic response that Avatarland created. Why spend all the $$$ if people aren't psyched about it?

I'd love to see a new Star Wars section but not if they have to move the Osborne lights so I hope this rumor is correct!

And not that God-awful paint scheme they just did in FW. Have you seen that? What the hell were they thinking??:crazy2:

Go back and look at my comment. I was responding to a post that asked if anyone is surprised. I am not really commenting on whether Al Lutz knows what he is talking about or not.

But, I guess if Avatarland is one simulator ride and some shops and a restaurant, that would be about the same as the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter. And, since I like WWOP, I might like Avatarland too.

You do realize that Al is not always negative. That same article he gushed openly about the hiring of Mary Niven to I think it was VP of Disneyland and how great a hire it was. Also talked about how TDA is aggressively tackling the parking problem they have out there.

"Pick up the report from some blogger and treat is as gospel" sure sounds like a comment on the accuracy of the report.

And I hope you do like Avatarland, truthfully. I hope I like it too! But what I really hope is this blog is inaccurate, because as unexcited as I am about Avatar, Animal Kingdom (and DHS and Epcot) need all they can get.
