Continued Softness Seen at Disney Theme Parks

What a surprise! The economy is still in the dumpster and the Walt Disney Co continues to raise prices thru the roof. And nothing new to do! They seemed to have conceded this years' tourists to IOA and Harry Potter.

Florida Resident Dream Pass Offer

From 1/4/10-5/21/10, Florida residents may purchase the Florida Resident Dream Pass, a 4-day admission ticket. These passes will be valid through 5/25/10 or until all entitlements on the passes have been used, whichever comes first. There are block-out dates (when the Dream Passes are not valid) of 3/27/10-4/9/10 at all four theme parks

Price for the Dream Pass is $105.44 for adults (ages 10 and over) and $89.46 for children (ages 9 and under).

Although these tickets do not include either the Park Hopper or Water Park Fun & More options, they can be upgraded to add either option, or both, for an additional $26, plus tax, per option (half the regular price).

The Florida Resident Dream Pass can be purchased at the ticket booths starting 1/4/10. You must show valid Florida ID.

Auto Club South (AAA) offers a discount on the Florida Resident Dream Pass.

The military tickets, though similar to the Dream Pass, have different rules/dates:

2010 Special Ticket Offer for Military

From 1/3/10-7/31/10, active or retired US military personnel may purchase up to a maximum of six 4-Day Base Tickets (which provide access to one theme park per day, no hopping) for $99 per ticket, plus tax (no tax if purchased at military installation or SOG), to be used by themselves, family members (including spouse) or friends. These tickets will be valid through 9/30/10 or until all entitlements on the tickets have been used, whichever comes first. There are block-out dates (when the military tickets are not valid) of 3/27/10-4/9/10 at all four theme parks, and 7/3/10-7/4/10 at Magic Kingdom only.

Although these tickets do not include either the Park Hopper or Water Park Fun & More options, they can be upgraded to add either option, or both, for an additional $26, plus tax, per option (half the regular price).

How to Get the Tickets

Beginning January 3, 2010, guests can pre-purchase the tickets (in the form of an exchange voucher) at Shades of Green or at a military base, TAX-FREE! The exchange voucher is then taken to a Main Entrance theme park ticket window, where it is exchanged for the actual ticket. The military tickets can also be purchased at the Main Entrance theme park ticket windows beginning January 3, but if you do this, you must pay tax.

Rules

These tickets are for active and retired US Military including Coast Guard and active members of the Reserves or National Guard, and permanently disabled veterans with a valid military ID card. Dept of Defense (CIA, FBI, Secret Service) and Coalition Forces are excluded.

If the service member is not present, the spouse or unremarried widow may purchase up to five tickets during the validity period.

The tickets may be upgraded to Seasonal (for Florida Residents) or Annual Passes, with credit toward the upgrade based on the actual price paid.

No Expiration Option cannot be added to these tickets. No other upgrades, such as adding additional days, will be available.

Tickets must be used by the same person on any and all days.

This offer may not be combined with any other offer.

All of this information is available in the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum. Check out Post #17 about the Military offer and Post #19-B about the Dream Ticket. And the two tickets are not the same.

YAY, I like the idea of less people for my next trip. It's getting harder and harder to talk my DH into visiting Orlando because, in his words: 1. the increase in crowds make him itch, 2., nothing really changes, 3. they keep raising the prices with no increase in return for him, 4., we've gone so many times. This takes care of problem number 1 for me.. not much else I can do about the other trouble though but I'll take what I can get. Fingers crossed for small or no lines, like in the old days pixiedust:

On the other hand, boo-hoo for the employees. Disney is not known for how great they treat their employees. Pay seems terrible compared to how profitable the Company is and the whole scandal with outsourcing the cleaning people so they could get away with less than min wage via a 3rd party was vile. I'm not fooled by outsourcing no matter how they try to spin it. Nevertheless, people depend on the company to feed their families so for that I am deeply saddened by any slipping.

Hmmm, I will make sure to do some extra tipping this trip. I wonder can I tip the ride attendants as I get on so it's not like I'm bribing them to get ahead in line? I don't want to bribe them but when times are hard I tip everyone, fast food attendants, gas station folks... basically everyone that helps me out, if I've got some singles they've got some singles, KWIM. I can tip the street cleaners ect easily I'm sure but I wonder about the characters? Uggh, I'll feel bad if I can't tip everyone.
Pay it forward!

BooHoo .. Not a Fl resident or Military ... thanks everyone for all the replies!

I have starving children (look how cute she is in my picture!) suffering from Disney malnourishment! Instead of giving money away why don't you send it to me so that I can spend it on a trip to Disney World?! You'll be helping everyone out at DW plus a Disney fanatic family suffering from Mickey withdrawals after 3 years of abstinence. Two birds, one stone!

For real, no way would I tip all those people. I don't have a tip can at my job when I am screwing a range together.
