Continued Bad News/Possible Changes for Disney Store?

I know that no matter where I am going in the mall I can stop into the Disney Store and the people there make me feel so good. They remember me and treat me like I have been missed

Thank you interested for the kind words. We Cast Members don't get a lot of those on these Boards. It is nice to know that there are some people that recognize our efforts.

It is disheartening to see that so many people here will be glad to see the Disney Stores gone, for whatever reasons.

Where did you see anyone that said they were glad to see them go?

I saw a few folks who weren't as upset about them closing now as they would have been a few years ago, when TDS had products they wanted... but that's another statement, altogether.

"Glad to see you go" is way different from "Well, this isn't a particularly shocking ending for this sad story."

I definitely won't be HAPPY to see TDS close - I'll be very sad. But what saddens me more is seeing the once-wonderful Disney Store turn into an overpriced dollar store. I used to spend alot of time browsing and ultimately purchasing things in TDS. Now if I walk in there, I'm out in less than a minute, there simply isn't anything that interests me, not even enough to just browse.

Ouch. My sentiments are "I wish it weren't too late to find a way to save TDS, and the jobs of all those that work there."

My position has been that if Disney can't or won't make a go of it then I hope that someone else steps in who can turn things around. It's certainly not working right now.

By no means would I be happy to see the disney stores close! We truly miss the "old" disney store. To be what it previously was, would be heaven! The CM's have always made disney great, be it at the stores or at the theme parks. The CM's are not the reason the stores are doing so poorly. It's the merchandise mix that is doing them in. I would like to thank all of the CM's that made our visits to the disney store more personal and friendly. God bless you all for the great job you've done over the years, and I wish you the best in the future!

Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems like the stuff they are selling in the DS's now is the stuff that isn't selling in DTD Marketplace.

Disney Stores, Inc. is a seperate division of the Walt Disney Co. from the Walt Disney World Resort. The items for sale in each divsion are different - there are different buyers, etc. For example, I noticed the 16" Stitch plush was different than the one at TDS. Not as nice, if you ask me (as I turn my head to see Stitch sitting on my bed). Selling adult clothing again would be very nice, but it would not have any WDW or DL logos on it, as they are a seperate division of the company for the Disney Stores, as previously mentioned.

Well, went to TDS today at our mall to buy our park passes and it is closing 6/24. Everything in the store was 50% off, except my park passes of course! Not that I have been buying anything anyway. Maybe someday Disney will figure it out. I doubt until there is a shakeup in management that this will happen though.

Just so you know, park hopper prices are set by WDW, not by The Disney Store, which is why they are never on sale. I'm sorry that your Disney store is closing and hope that there's another one that not too far away. As Cast Members, we are hoping for some changes as well!!

I doubt until there is a shakeup in management that this will happen though.

It is looking like that shake up is happening now. We know Peter Whitford has resigned and it seems at least a handful of top execs are going to get the boot. So, let's see if it makes a difference. It certainly appears that Guests and Cast Members alike would like for a difference to take place.

Our Disney Store (Augusta,GA) closed for good yesterday

It's been awhile since I've been to the mall,and I had no idea until it was too late! I didn't even get to say goodbye.

I will really really miss the CM's that I got to know over the years.Lots of times I would go in there,and we all spend an hour talking about the trip we had just taken or the ones coming up.
I know it was just a store,but I swear there's a knot in my stomach that just won't go away.
It's just really sad!!
