Continental not flying out of Bangor any longer

I was so proud of myself for getting such good airfare on Continental (in April). We usually fly out of Portland but Bangor airfare was even cheaper so snatched it up. Today I logged on to find my flights missing from Bangor to Newark, and upon further investigation, found that as of June 21st, they are no longer flying out of Bangor.

I am going to call the 1-800 number this weekend. There are flights out of Portland on Continental but more expensive so not sure if they will cover the additional cost or not...not a good start to the weekend.

I just posted about this, sorry I didn't scroll down. I just got off the phone with a rep. There are no additional charges and you can switch your airport. I switched to Moncton, NB, Canada because I am from NB. You can go with Halifax, Moncton or Portland - for no charge!!! Or, if you want you can still fly out of BGR, and they have to pay for you to fly with another company - again no charge to you!!! Keep me posted. I am trying to spread the word as quickly as possible because I almost cancelled my flight. You have to know what to ask for or you will cancell without realizing there are better options, especially if you got a great deal on your original flight.

Thank you!!! I hope we can do this! I called yesterday and they said to wait for someone to call us to arrange flights. You were lucky to be able to do it right away. I never would have thought to ask to fly from Halifax. You have made my day. When are you flying out? We are leaving August 20th.

If we are able to leave from Halifax, I may just extend our trip a few days (which would have been our commuting days).

Called Continental and even spoke with a supervisor who said the only thing they are offering is to refund $$..I said we would wait before we got a refund.

Yesterday when I called, they said they would fly us out of Portland or Bangor(with another carrier). So two phone calls with two different answers.

Will try again next week....

YEAH!! Persistance pays off. After 4 phone calls we were finally able to book from Halifax!! Thanks so much Hockey Mom KQ. We have saved about $500.00 by not having to drive to/from Bangor, never mind the 8 hour drive. Yippeee!!
