What to you think...Non stop to Tampa is about $200 and 1 stop is $248...I would have to rent a car in Tampa. What do you think

Would you be renting a car if you flew to MCO? If not, I'd take the MCO flight and save money overall. If you were going to be renting a car anyway, I'd go to TPA. The drive from TPA to WDW is about 75 minutes, as opposed to 30 minutes from MCO to WDW.

I'd take the MCO flight no matter what. The approx. 75-90 minutes each way between TPA and WDW isn't worth it.

I agree with what has been said, take the flight to Orlando. Besides instead of renting a car, why not use Disney's Magicial Express if your going to be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. That is one thing you can't get at Tampa International Airport.

We decided to fly into TPA & out of MCO to save some money on our plane tix over Labor Day wknd.

It would have been fine, except....
there were severe thunderstorms over tpa, so we couldn't land & circled for about an hour
then we ran low on fuel & had to go to MCO to refuel!
But, of course, they didn't let us off the plane at MCO since our real dest was TPA,
then we had another delay when the thundertorms moved over Orlando & we had to wait for the weather to clear so we could take off again & go back to TPA
all told an extra 3 hrs in the plane (2.5 hr flight became 5.5 hrs), then we had to make the drive (which really wasn't a bad drive)

Obviously weird & unique circumstances that are probably extremely rare, but we hadn't ever considered how weird delays would seem particularly frustrating if a drive to/from an alternate airport was involved...

I would do MCO unless the cost of renting a car was less than what you saved plus the extra 4 hours driving didn't matter. MCO seems like a lot better deal to me.
