Hi,

We've booked for a Xmas trip to Orlando flying with Continental

This will be our first trip flying Continental from Edinburgh. We have 4 hours each way in Newark. Does anyone know if we go through Customs in Newark?

Also, can anyone let me know what the flight is like - do we get seat back TVs, free drinks, meals etc.. - the last few years we've only flown Virgin.

And finally, we arrive on Xmas day, will shops like Publix/Walmart be open for a quick bit of food shopping. We've been assured that Dollar will be open at the Airport, can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

Hi
1) Yes u clear customs at Newark
2) Flight is good, food ok, free soft drinks, free water, free tea & coffee, $5 per alcoholic drink, planes are being upgraded for seatback tv's this year so u may get lucky, if not then its tvs dotted around aisles, films are ok
3) Not sure about shops not been at xmas

We flew Continental last April Edinburgh Via Newark and we will be flying same route again this March, its worth while joining their flying club to get airmiles also they are partners with Virgin so u may get too combine your virgin miles for a free flight

Hi we flew into Newark with Continental a couple of years ago, and we had seat back tv's. The flight was great - no worries about going with them again.
There's a shuttle monorail at Newark, like the one at MCO!
Enjoy the manhattan sky line as you land!

We have done Man-Newark-MCO twice now no problems. Both at Xmas.

Heres a link to Publix opening hours for 2006.

Local stores maybe slightly different so bookmark a link to your local store, here one for Pubix on 192 opp Old Town, but find another if this is not close to your hotel. Then just before you go check and see if they are opening.

Cant find Walmarts hours but I would think they are similar.

With a 4 hour stopover won't it be too late to be going shopping?

Dollar will be open but they have limited amounts of cars. 1st time we went at Xmas we used Alamo, they had no cars left (even though we prebooked), Neither did Dollar, Thrifty, Hertz etc etc. Tried them all. Alamo paid for us a taxi to Disney Allstars and back to airport next day when tehy eventually got us a car. Cost them $100 for taxi's.

I like Continental, very good airline. One of the better US scheduled airlines.
Yes, you clear customs at Newark, which means you sail straight through at MCO.
Most shops are open for some of the time Christmas Day, the US celebrates Thanksgiving more in my opinion.

It will be a good time to go, but the parks will be very busy.

have a great one

Thanks for the info: hopefully the upgrades will be on track as if they're done this year we should at least get them coming back.

I think I can collect air miles straight onto my Flying Club account as Continental is a partner airline - I'll probably end up getting more miles than with Virgin as I'll have 2 flights.

Never too late to go shopping :santa:

We are due at 6:45 and would like to pick up some stuff for the morning - hopefully we wont be heading back to the airport to get a hire car!

we have used them twice
once from Dublin had seatback tv's and once from Belfast no seatback tv's

Great flights:thumbsup2
