I have a Continental Chase Card through work. Does anybody know that if I present this will my first checked bag fee be waived?

Thanks, Darren

Yes, they will waive the fee. I have on as well, and it's a great benefit.

I just applied and it's on its way. I just need to show it at the airport and they will waive the fee?

Yes, show your card and anyone on the same itinerary with you gets the first bag free.

This is good news, I thought perhaps you needed to book with the card. Thanks for all the replies.

Darren

nope you don't need to book with it. we are saving my in-laws a ton of money with it, anyone who is on your reservation also gets the first free checked back woo hoo!

See continental.com/chasebag for details.
Note the italics if you are traveling/booking for others.

Effective Oct. 28, 2008, Continental Airlines Chase primary cardmembers get their first checked-bag fees automatically waived (a savings of $30 per round trip per passenger checking bags).

Terms and Conditions
The applicable checked baggage fee will be automatically waived when the primary cardmember's OnePass® account number is listed in their reservation. In the event that it is not automatically waived, the primary cardmember should present their active Continental Airlines Chase credit or debit card to an agent. Fees will be waived at the time of travel; no refunds or credits will be issued after travel has been completed.

Customers traveling with the primary cardmember will also get their applicable baggage fees waived if they are listed in the same reservation and check in at the same time. This exemption will not apply to group reservations including 10 or more customers.

Checked bags must meet weight and size restrictions or will be subject to additional fees. Learn more about our baggage policy.

New Continental Airlines Chase primary credit and debit card applicants will be eligible for the checked baggage fee waiver benefit after they receive their card.

I saw this on the Continental website when I booked our air and I was interested in signing up for it [three of us, the savings add up fast]. . . BUT, I could never tell if there is an annual fee associated with it. I just won't pay those darn things. Can anyone tell me if there is a fee and if so, what it is? :confused3

Thanks. :flower3:

I also hold a Continental Chase card and double-checkd the information with Continntal. The fee is indeed waived!

These days, every little bit helps!

So I just was reading the website....

First bag is $15.00, second bag is $25.00, right.

If I get that Chase card, one bag is waived and the second one will be $15.00???

How does that sound?

I would think that the second bag would still be $25.

The annual fee for the Continental MasterCard is $85.00. I felt that was pretty steep but if you fly frequently, it pays for itself in no time. :)

Mine is the Continental Visa - which I don't think they even have anymore! :confused3

The annual fee is $65 (unless they raised it).

Warning....dumb questions.............................

I have a question for everyone. I am traveling in June, DH, DS and myself. We will each have one good size bag. Do each of us pay $15.00 OR will it be $15.00 for the first one and $25.00 for the other two? And do we pay this again when we return?

I have a continental chase visa also. I have only seen the mastercard offer free first checked bag. Has anyone with the visa gotten this service?

I just got my new card in January (have had this card for over 10 years), so they still have the visa's for the poster who thought they don't have them.

There is a fee, I think $65, but I get one airline mile for each dollar we spend(2 in some places) and I charge everything (pay it off at the end of each month). Four of us flew to Hawaii a few years ago for free, and we have enough to fly back there again as soon as I can find the time and money for the rest of the trip. Well worth the fee imo.

It is per seat so each persons first bag would $15. And yes it is both ways, so if you have 3 seats and 3 checked bags that is an additional $90.

I do not pay annual fees so that is why I do not have a Continental rewards card. However, my card from work is a Continental rewards card and that what was prompted me to ask the question as it costs me nothing to just show my card.

My next question is how does it work with ME on the way home?

You will each get one bag at $15.00, so you could take three checked suitcases and pay $45.00 each way. The fourth bag and so on would cost you $25.00 each. The fees are for each way, so yes, you would pay the same thing on the way back. So if you each checked you own suitcase it would cost you $90.00 round trip.

For our trip in june I am really going to try to pack for the four of us in just 2 suitcases and then pack a couple of duffle bags we could use for carry on on the way back to leave room for souveneirs.

Hope this helps :goodvibes

We have a Chase Continental Mastercard but our annual fee is only $45. I just double-checked on our account. I wonder if this is because we have had the card for 10 years.

We have the ancient continental visa that is no longer available. We have had it for about 13 years. We pay $65/annual. We charge EVERYTHING on here as we get one airline mile for each $, and certain stores you get 2 miles per $. For the fee we pay, it is well worth it as four of us have flown to hawaii for free, 2 of us to New Orleans, and we have enough to fly 4 of us back to hawaii again (just need to figure out when we can go). That comes to about $6-7k in free flights.

We do get the first checked bag free and so does everyone traveling in our party.
