Contempory Restaurant Closing ..Help!!

I,ve been reading about Contemporary closing in 2007 for renovations /moving. Can anyone give me an idea of when and how long it will be closed? I want to go there next April/May willit be closed then???

Do you mean Concourse?

Nothing has been confirmed or released by WDW yet - it's a rumor at this point. No one knows dates or times, other than possibly in 2007. I wouldn't panic yet

This is what I was told by Cast Members at the Contemporary when I was there this past August. Sometime in 2007 the Concourse Steakhouse & the Food & Fun Center will be closing as they are going to switch places in the Contemporary. Also the arcade will be moving into where the Fantasia store is, thus making Bay View Gifts the main store for merchandice in the Contemporary. Also this is not a rumor it's 100% true, because this is what I was told by Cast Members. Finally a lot of Disboards members have agreed this is true & they did not mention anything about waiting for an official announcement from WDW.

I am going to say what I have said in other threads about this topic. All the Cast Members told me this will be taking place in 2007 & they were not even sure what month they would begin. I assume all they know is that it will happen in 2007, they just have not been told what month it will happen. Because I said to them are you sure you don't know the excat date & they all said no.

If I had more specific info, don't you think I would have posted it. I wish I had more, however I am just saying what the Cast Members told me.

I forgot to say if you want more specific info from me you will have to wait until December, when my family & I are back at the Contemporary. I would be happy to find out the excat date of this renovation, if it's not announced when I am back there. So until then hopefully WDW will make an announcement of when this renovation will take place. If not then maybe the best bet is to call WDW Guest Services, if no one else from Disboards can find anything else out.

If I had more specific info, don't you think I would have posted it. I wish I had more, however I am just saying what the Cast Members told me.

But in support of the OP, many CM's have said things over the years that have been at least partially if not completely false.The fact is just because a CM says it, it doesn't make it true. The rumor mill is HUGE in WDW and there is misinformation all the time. It doesn't mean you're wrong, however untill there is official word from Disney just take what you hear with a grain of salt.

Then how come when we all 1st heard this rumor, everyone was so quick to believe it & say how great it is going to be for the Contemporary & they never said let's wait until we here something from WDW, unlike yourself. I admit that at I said I will believe it when I hear it, however after reading people say it's going to happen after speaking with Cast Members, I started to say this must be true. Finally when I spoke to Cast Members about this in August, they said it's going to happen, so that was good enough for me.

Hey I didn't mean to start WW3' I am planning my ADRs and wanted to include Concourse( sorry about the Contemporary) If it's closed during my stay I need to find an alternative that was why I wanted to know if anyone had any dates. Enoughpeople have reported on the closing I'm sure it's going to happen. I'm hoping it's before Easter or after Memorial Day.. Nothing like dreaMIN'

I was told the same thing as CR Resort Fan by a CM who is in a position to know. It's not a secret or I wouldn't have been told. Perhaps not every change gets an "official" announcement. The Steakhouse and Food & Fun Center will trade places. It seemed strange to me because of the huge arcade by the Food & Fun Center, but there it is. I assume (although wasn't told this), it's because Chef Mickey's is so insane with kids, strollers, etc. Perhaps they want a restaurant where conventioneers can go that isn't as expensive as CG, but also isn't just the foyer for Chef Mickey's?

Also I agree with ElizabethB 100%, because I also spoke to Cast Members that were in a position to know & I am sure if they knew what date this move would happen they would have told us. Also maybe there is no planned announcement, however we both know it's going to happen. So it's up to the rest of you if you want to believe it.

We ate here about a month ago and were told the same thing. I liked the restaurant, but eating with the birds flying over head and landing on tables did not make for a very relaxing lunch. It will be nice when they move the place to a bird free zone.

I don't doubt that this is the "current plan" as I've seen several threads on several boards that different people have started or corroborated. That said, to the OP -- don't panic. The current plan frequently changes with Disney, including start and finish dates -- and sometimes even after a project is announced (where is that DVC golf resort they announced a few years back?). I do LOVE this idea though, along with a CR DVC!!!

Based on what other people have said in this post & other posts, it's going to happen. Yes maybe there were other rumors about up coming projects for WDW, however if this one keeps getting mentioned over & over, plus Cast Members are telling guests it's happening, then I believe it's going to happen.

Our only regret about the move is that you will no longer be able to eat a meal while "the monorail glides silently over head" as it was described in an older version of Birnbaums guide.
