Contempory or AKL?

Please help which reort shall I choose for my trip next August??

It will our first trip to the world...we are coming all the way from UK and have saved a lot. I really want this trip to be extra special for my dd aged 6 and ds aged 14.

The themeing of AKL really apeals to my Dh and I like the look of it too but I love the fact the Contemory is so close to MK and I love the monarail running thru it and CHef mickeys we will defo be visiting.

As it is August we will probably take time out at our resort in the afternoon for a couple of hours so Will this location make all the difference?

WE will have a car though.

In your opinion which resort will make for a happier and special trip for my kids??

We stayed at both and I love AKL its theme is done so perfect, its a nice resort to stay at if you like to relax.I also liked contempory because it was close to MK but the theme there isnt anything special.The only nice thing is you can take the monorail to MK. It really depends on what you prefer, but if you want something thats special i'd say AKL

I've only stayed at AKL, but they are both great. But since the Contemporary is going through some MAJOR renovations right now, it might not be too wise to stay there until 2007 (expected finish date).

I would choose AKL, because it is one of the newest resorts and the African Savannah. It's all worth it when a giraffe and a zebra are sitting 15 ft. away from your balcony. But if you are MK people, then go for the Cont. and if you are AK people, go for AKL.

The AKL would definitely be my choice, especially since Contemp is going through rennovations. Your 6 yr old will really like all the kids programs if you have time to hang out at the resort. And, the theme is something that you can't get at most places. The art and artifacts at the resort are wonderful. Being able to talk with people from Africa to find out more about their country and the animals is fascinating. The pool is nicely themed and the slide will be a nice inbetween for both children. I've seen lots of "older" kids at AKL and the aracade is adequate.

We've always found the bus transportation from AKL to be very good. And often found the monorail, especially at closing, to be very packed. There were times when we would wait for several monorails before being able to get on. That being said if you are at the Contemp you can walk to the MK and they have a great arcade that most teens really like. We didn't care for their food court and while Chef Mickey's was okay we found the lobby to be very noisy and not as relaxing as the AKL. Some of it will come down to what you are looking for in a resort but ... because I don't care for staying at hotel during rennovations I would definitely do the AKL.
