I have booked at the contemporary, but I have read so many bad reviews.. I am starting to wonder if I shouldnt change...

Anyone like it?

I do :) Love the restaurants, kids were awed by the view of the MK from our tower room, monorail running through the lobby is so cool. And I personally like the Jetsons-type theme very much. Some people don't.

We love the Cont. especially my DH. It is his favorite resort. Some people don't like it, but we all have different taste. Have you looked at some of the photos of it you can find on the web. Allearsnet has good pictures.

What kind of room do you have reserved, wing or tower? If you have a wing room , I would recommend adding a request to your resv. for a room close to the tower.

When is your trip? Some of the newly remodled rooms may be available during your trip and they look great!

Different strokes for different folks...but it is our absolute favorite place on property....the view from the tower rooms are absolutely the best at WDW, lots of restaurant choices, a great pool that is never crowded, the most water sport options at WDW, easily the best transportation options on site, great shopping and arcades and the largest rooms of any of the WDW hotels....we think it can't be beat....guess it all depends on what you are looking for.

We have NEVER had a bad experience there.

we have stayed twice in tower rooms and loved it both times. Our son had an obsession with trains at the time and the monorail in the hotel was heaven to him. It was also nice to be able to walk to MK. I did laundry in the garden wings and have to say that I didn't like them as much. The halls seemed narrow and dark.

If you stay in the tower it is busy and bustling. It is very convenient though and is the cheapest of all the monorail hotels.

The price has always kept me away, but I like the look of the new rehabbed rooms! (It's hard to justify the Contemporary when we can get the Swan at Gov't rates) We also enjoy eating there!

We love it. IF you look at my signature you can see that we have stayed there more than any other resort.

I am going October 3-8.. (praying no hurricane)... we are in a wing room.. cant upgrade because of the package... So I asked for a newer room and a garden view... close to a pool.. anything else you think I should request...?

One thing we liked when we stayed there, and what we have requested for our visit in April, is to have a room on the first floor. Those rooms have a patio with a couple of chairs. The rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the wings do not have balconies. We loved to sit on the patio and watch the boats go by on the lake.
By the way, I think it is my favorite resort. Love the size of the rooms. My kids love the pool and the arcade. You can walk to and from the MK. it has many advantages due to its location. I think that once all the rooms are redone, the hotel will be one of the most popular resorts.

bonnielynn, we check in on the 4th, water view wing room. Maybe we'll see you there! We'll be at the party on the 6th.

It's our favorite, too! Love the Concourse Steakhouse, the monorail, the view, and walking to MK.

We're going Nov. 18-22 and will be second time at Contemporary. We loved it there. We're getting a tower again and hoping request for MK view is fulfilled.

You can always ask when you get there for an upgrade - $$ or free. Doesn't hurt to ask. :cool1:

LOVE the Contemporary! We would rather be at the Contemporary (in a Tower Magic Kingdom view room) than any of the other monorail resorts. The pools are great. The Concourse Steakhouse is great. California Grill is amazing. The walkway to the Magic Kingdom can't be beat -- no busses to deal with and no monorail if you don't want to. The marina is a blast. And the shopping is great fun, too!

My daughter now expects to see fireworks from her balcony at ANY hotel we stay at! :rotfl2:

I'm another CR fan :) I love the view from the balconies, and you can't beat being able to walk to the MK :sunny: I'm planning another stay there in Oct. '06, and also April '07!

I take bad reviews with a grain of salt. What one person enjoys, another person might not. I say go and decide for yourself :)

We loved CR!!! Only there for two nights, the first being the exact same night that H. Charlie arrived in Orlando!!! We still loved it. Everyone was a bit harried but still helpful and very friendly. And the morning after the hurricane, they were still terrific. A bit cranky in some cases, but if I had had to sleep on a pool chaise I might be a tad grumpy also!!! We stayed in the North wind, on the ground level facing the playground and lake. It was just wonderful. I would love to stay there again.

what is the decor like on that floor? I have seen the pictures on Allearsnet and assumed they were the bright, primary-colored theme. But I just watched the Disney Planning guide DVD and the rooms they show for the contemporary are more neutral and simple - more beige looking. I requested North wing for our trip next year, and since they won't be remodeled, I was wondering if they are the bright (ugly) rooms or the more neutral looking rooms.
