Contemporary Tower Rooms-WARNING! WARNING!

I am not trying to make any excuses for the CRO Cast Members because if they knew the renovations were taking place they should tell other guests that when making reservations for the Contemporary. However my feeling is a lot of them must have no idea they are doing renovations on the 4th floor, so if they don't know that they won't be able to say that when others are calling for reservations.

I agree that its not the fault of the CRO Cast Members. This issue lies squarely on the shoulders of management at CR and Disney resorts overall. I wouldn't expect that the average CRO CM working in the call center to personally have any idea about the construction. But I do expect that when management knows that construction is going on that will negatively impact a guests experience, that they take proactive steps to cause as little disruption as possible. They haven't even told the CRO CMs about it. So, they aren't warning people who are making new reservations, they aren't reaching out to people with existing reservations to offer alternatives, and they aren't warning anyone at check-in. And unfortunately, this isn't isolated to a few unlucky guests who happened to be there on the wrong day. This has been going on now for over two weeks.

Disney has lots of experience with doing rehabs and remodels of their resorts and in my opinion, they have typically gone above and beyond to avoid disrupting guests. The did it very recently at AKL and they should be doing it at CR. In this case, they've dropped the ball - its just that simple.

Can anyone confirm for me that this construction does indeed end at 5:00pm?? We have a 6:30 dinner at Chef Mickeys in a few weeks.

How about they don't do it all, let the place go. No new upgrades or anything. Then this way everyone will have even more to complain about.

The work has to get done, would it be fair to someone in January who goes to get away from it all? If I would have saw construction I would have thought "gee lets see, do I endure or do I change plans". I guess I just don't let things get to me like that.

They should make upgrades, but as I explained to the CM manager is that these upgrades will make Disney a lot of $$$ but it shouldn't be made on the backs of those who endured the noise that morning. My warning is that guests trying to sleep and eat there must be prepared to complain to get any concession at all. Hotels across the country offer "construction rates" but Disney does not, only those who complain do not pay full price. I did not get the same dining product as someone who ate there another, quiet time and I should not have to pay the same price, and I did not.

I agree that Disney should let their guests know. We just got back from the Poly and there was construction going on all over the place that I wasn't aware of. Really spoiled much of the atmosphere. Had I known about it, I'd have stayed elsewhere.

Just back and had breakfast at Chef Mickey's in the atrium, the area next to the restaurant was under construction and I don't mean an occasional hammer tap, we endured an hour of jack hammering, bone crushing noise. Only those who complained received a discount off their meal. I was told by the manager that resort guests were not previously notified of the construction and that the jack hammer had started at 8am (we were there from 11:15-12:15). I pity those hotel guests that were trying to sleep in and I'm sure only those who complained received discounts off their hotel bills. We passed thru CR around 5pm and the workers were gone so I think there was some evening peace.

We have ADR at CM on 8/23, hopefully this wil not be an issue by then... :rolleyes1

We were awoken 2 nights from construction noise in the middle of the night and then had to deal with the jackhammering during the day. I complained to the manager in my pajamas at 3:00 in the morning and was offered nothing more than an apology and another room. I sent a letter to the General Manager a week and half ago expressing my concerns and asking to be compensated, and I've not received a response. So while they may be reimbursing disruptions at Chef Mickey's, they clearly don't seem to care how much they are disrupting guests who are paying over $400/night. I think the way they are handling this is shameful.

Ok, off my soapbox for the night. The last thing I need is another night of lost sleep fuming over how disgusted I am with the management at the CR. :thumbsup2

When we were there, the jackhammering ended by 5:00. Other, "less disruptive" work was going on at all hours. I would guess your Chef Mickey's reservation should be fine.

So it does go beyond 5:00pm??

I'd really like to have an idea on whether or not it'll be an issue while we attempt to have dinner at Chef Mickey's. It's a noisy restaurant to begin with, and I can't imagine "dueling noise" after a long day at the parks!

I also can't imagine where else we'd get an ADR this late in the game, but I'm getting nervous about dinner at Chef Mickey's with all this construction talk.

Thanks for the heads up re:construction. I have reservations to take the kids to Chef Mickey's but I'll call in advance to make sure I don't have to endure jack hammering headaches and just eat breakfast in if they are. Then again... a discount you say... how much of a discount? :rotfl:

I think we need to rename CR to = Construction Resort. Like the Big Dig, it just goes on and on and on and .....

Ok, thanks! (Looks like my last post was being written as you posted this reply!)
