I agree with Mr Finance Hat tjkraz, with one caveat. I think that there are enough folks with enough $$$ to make a small-sized VCR sell-out fairly quickly...
True. And let me better clarify my point.
Right now 200 pts gets you a week in a 1B at BCV / BWV / VWL during Adventure Season. If you were considering a CR purchase, which would you prefer:
200 pts / week for 1B Adventure @ $150 each = $30,000
300 pts / week for 1B Adventure @ $100 each = $30,000
Either way, you're making the same financial commitment and getting the same value from your points. BUT, existing members must use a larger share of their points to stay at the CR than at their own Home resort.
Lost in my really long reply was the idea that I don't see
DVC charging $150 or $200 for CR points
simply because they can. IMO, it would make more sense to maintain a steady inflationary increase in price, coupled with a higher point schedule for the resort as is appropriate for its location.
And really the owners at the resort should prefer it that way, too. Using the example above, wouldn't it be comforting to know that your 300 CR points get you several more days per year if you choose to stay at a "lesser" resort? It's really the same situation faced today by owners at later resorts who choose to stay at OKW--those who initially purchased enough points to stay a week at their Home should find that they have enough to stay 9-10 nights at OKW during the same season.
