Contemporary Room Type

I have finally decided on the Contemporary Resort for our 6 night first time trip with a 5 year old. Please vote for room type.
We do not care about the pool. We do care about a balcony or patio and large room. Debating upon putting our daughter in the daybed and getting a king size room (in hope of more floor space) or just getting two queen beds. Welcome any opinions on room type or special requests I should make when I book the Contemporary.

It is so peaceful and serene. It is perfect for watching the Electric Water Pageant every night. And I love watching the boats.

The Magic Kingdom View is lovely, too. I wish that there was less parking lot on that side of the resort. Really, you cannot go wrong with either of these two views.

I do not like the Garden Wing. It was before the most recent renovation, but it felt dark and musty to me. I did like having the patio just a few steps from the beach, although, at the time, I shared it with some ducks (and a little bit of duck mess). The hallway leading to my room and the room itself did not feel as fresh as the Tower Rooms, so I would not stay there again.

Contemporary ! my favorite hotel! i would recommend getting a mk view room, if i was you with a 5 year old I would get a king bed with the sofa bed sleeper for your child..
You can really enjoy all the disney views from your balcony and hear the fireworks music on your tv.. its awesome!
ask for an odd numbered room so your bed will face the castle so you can see it from your bed

We did a MK View room last year and it was beyond magical and perfect. We loved every second and DD4 still talks about watching the fireworks from the balcony. That being said, we are staying at CR again this year but we booked a Garden Wing room. We are only staying there three night before moving to BC but I just could not justify the additional cost. The hard thing was there are no balconies in the Garden Wing so unless you get lucky and get a 1st floor room for the patio you won't have it. So I think if a balcony is a deal breaker for you, go with the MK view

MK view all the way. There is nothing like waking up to the castle and being able to watch fireworks from the room if you want.

From what I understand (Aug will be my first time acutally staying at this resort) there are no balconies in the Garden Wing rooms. Just a patio if staying on the first floor. So if a balcony is a deal breaker- staying in the GW section may not be the way to go.
We are staying in BLT on points but I struggled with room location as well. I shelled out the extra money for a MK view for a few reasons.
Disney is just one of those destinations where the visual is a huge part of the experience. Watching Wishes from our balcony with just our family and perhaps a nice glass of wine at the end of a long day of park hopping seemed worth the extra money.
Another is that Im very into making memories for my kids. I would like to sit down at the dinner table in 20 years and talk about (in this case) the time we stayed at CR and could see the castle from our room etc..
I would rather spend money on this kind of thing than a souviner that will be lost or forgotten in time.

Go for cheap; you can get an upgrade

I didn't get that one.. You mean get the cheapest view room and hoping for a complimentary upgrade? Or wait until you get there and see if you like it and if not, to book an upgrade?

If I were to stay at CR, I would either do Bay Lake view or MK view. If I'm going to do deluxe, I want my balcony.

to the DIS. I voted for Tower Room MK view all the way. Just to be able to see the castle from your balcony and to watch wishes is Just to see the excitement on your DD's face will be priceless. When making your reservation, if you are not afraid of heights, I would request a higher floor. It's only a request and never guaranteed but Disney does their best to accommodate. We stayed there for DD's 5th bday. I kind of liked that we didn't have a MK view because she was so excited when we got on the monorail to wait for the castle to come into view. I personally would just do two queen beds. I thought the rooms were quite large compared to standard hotels.

OK, now I have not stayed at the CR but have stayed at BLT several times. We always get the MK view---my kids (11,10,6) LOVE watching the fireworks from our room, great view without the crowds, lounging on the balcony with a snack. The view is spectacular, especially at night and well worth the cost.

I have stayed in the wing and I have stayed in the tower. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

If you want to be guaranteed a balcony or patio, then you need to book a tower room. Although the first floor rooms in the wing have patios, they are by request only and you don't always get one.

The rooms are the same size, layout, and were refurbished at the same time. So there is no physical difference to the room itself in the wing vs. in the tower. The rooms are all large and spacious, whether you have a king or two queen beds in the room with the daybed. King beds are only a request though - they aren't a bookable category.

Personally, in your position, I would go for the theme park view if you can afford it, the lake view tower if that is all you can afford, and the wing room as a last resort. I think the lake view rooms are the best compromise, because you have the balcony, the view is very nice, and the cost is lower than a TPV.

I like the wing rooms and have stayed in them often, but having a balcony is not always important for me (depending on the weather for the time of year, it may be too hot or cold for me to enjoy a balcony). The wing rooms are less than a five minute walk to the tower for dining, shopping and transportation.

I voted MK view!!! I have never stayed at CR, but if I did, I would certainly spring for the MK view. That would be the main draw to CR for me.

Staying Tower Bay Lake View in the Fall--can't wait. Our only other stay was Garden Wing/Garden View. Room was fine, missed balcony and the experience of being in the Tower. Did not want to take the plunge and pay for MK view.

I voted for the tower with a Bay Lake View. It gets you into the tower more affordably and you will not be disappointed with the view. I personally think the Bay Lake view is beautiful and peaceful! We stayed in the Garden Wing and did not care for it, we really missed being in the tower.

Our two stays in MKV Tower have been pure magic!!! But, since I've already done it, I wouldn't hesitate to stay in the Tower with a view of the Lake -- from the pictures it looks pretty darn spectacular also.

The thing I loved about the MKV is the views you get along with it: You can totally look out and see the whole expanse of the Poly, Seven Seas Lagoon and GF right in front of your eyes. And, you can see the boats and buses bringing guests to the MK - it's AWESME and MAGICAL!! We just love it.

The good news for you is that you have decided to stay at CR, so you are already ahead in the game. Many people overlook the CR for many reasons and they are missing out in a big way. It's a GREAT resort that we love very much.

When you walk out the door and are on your way to the MK, I promise you will have a spring in your step and will be positively giddy! You will say to yourself "Self, I am sooooooo glad I booked us at CR - walking over here with no wait whatsoever is AWESOME!"
