Contemporary room styling?

I have seen a zillion pictures on the web of the contemporary rooms with REALLY funky styling, bright reds, greens, and blues in funky patterns. Last time in Disney we spoke to someone on the monorail who said that the comtemp. rooms were refurbished with more "subtle" colors and theming in the past couple of years. Is this true, and does anyone have pix of these new rooms?

Really would like to try the Comtemp. Stayed at the GF (liked it), Poly (moldy rooms & way overpriced IMO) and all of the moderates. The contemp. really is the next logical choice.

Thanks
W

"Subtle" is the last adjective I'd use to describe the CR's interior decorating. More like "garish." The bedspreads and pillowcases have red, yellow, and purpel splotches that look like ketchup and mustard stains. Personally, the size of the rooms (biggest on WDW property), resort location, amenities, restaurants, and nostalgia element (WDW's first resort, first resort at which I stayed) compensates for the decor.

The Grand Canyon Concourse, home to Chef Mickey's and the shops, is decorated in similar Jetsons-meets-Art-Deco style. There it seems the colors are applied more subtly.

LOL per the above!!!!!!!!!

But seriously, I want to stay there for the same reason. I remember as a kid on the monorail driving through the comtemp back in the mid-70s and just saying WOW. Of course, my parents could never afford to put us up there at the time, so I want to experience staying there atleast once. The girlfriend on the other hand, Im afraid the decor of the rooms will be a little bit "over the top". Im afraid we'll go during the wrong time of the month where she is concerned, the colors wouldnt help her mood (tongue in cheek)

Oh wait a minute now, this "bold" styling is new. When I first saw it I thought maybe it was kind of a leftover design from years past, but from the pix I saw this color choices and splotches all over the place were implemented sometime after 1998.

Go to www.disneypix.com to see the difference.

***????? Give me the old styling back !!!!!

I don't interfere with people's instincts. If you want to stay at the Contemporary, go ahead. I love the hotel, for the reasons I mentioned. The positives outweigh the negatives.

Totally agree with you, didnt mean to ruffle any feathers. I have visited/eaten at the Comtemporary many times over the past few years and really enjoy that and the location, and of course the nostalgia.

The room designs are just soooo "unique"
