Contemporary replies from Disney last week

I just don't understand why it's such a BIG secret. :confused3 :confused3 I don't think it will hurt california or hawaii sales since they are on the west coast. As far as AKV or SSR I don't think their sales will decrease since those dvc's have a different theme and charm than crv and probably also a different price (cheaper). I also agree with the op that all this secrecy is a negative. :surfweb:

I also tend to believe that it may be a dvc from the other thread which an op stated that disney had a filing with the sec which stated the number of dvcrooms that are currently being constructed which was greater than the number at akv. So maybe it is a dvc. :) or not :rotfl:
I can't speak for DVD but there certainly are reasons to wait. First, if something happens, they have options. They're also selling two other resorts right now and while those on the net may know to wait, many want. Lastly, you can't buy this kind of buildup any other way.

The Orlando Sentinel had a front page article last week on Tuesday or Wednesday about the new building at the Contemporary being a timeshare. I tried to find it so I could attach it but couldn't. The article said the reason Disney hadn't announced it is because it would hurt sales at the other DVC properties.

Add me to the list of having no interest in purchasing CRV....

yes I'll definately stay there.....cause I want to try them all....
but I don't like "modern".

I think you all would be pretty surprised at the number of DVC owners who have NO INTEREST in CRV. I'll visit and take a look, but there is absolutely no draw for me. First of all, the whole big high rise thing doesn't appeal to me at all, and MK is the park we visit the least. Just plain not interested. I think they will test the waters a bit with a non/DVC portion to this new tower first, and then decide if it will be DVC or not.

You are exactly right! No interest here at all. In fact, my next add on will probably be OKW! just need to visit first! :goodvibes

Here's a question...maybe it's been asked before but what do you think?

Is not the room configuration between DVC and even the delux resorts very different? I understand the construction isn't that far yet anyway but wouldn't it be wise to make that decision before starting construction. I know it's common to make changes during the process but wouldn't this be a significant one? and cost $$$ to change during the process?

Anyone?

I think it would be easier to walk to the MK than to take a monorail from the "new maybe possible DVC at the CR". I am just thinking... get an elevator from your floor to the ground floor... walk over to the main building... take the elevator/escalator up to the monrail...hop on the monorail which runs clockwise?? Make 3 stops before getting to MK..... whew!!
Advantage??

I like to resorts that feel like "home". I can't see myself calling the CR home.

One other thing.... I don't understand why they would make these rooms DVC when they can get such HUGE $$$ for Contemporary Rooms. It is a very busy reosrt which is almost always at capacity.

It is no secret that the conversion at AKL was due to the fact that they weren't selling rooms well there! Why go DVC if the cash business is good. Someone enlighten me on the Financial sense of it???

Not necessarily, it has happened several times before.

Newport Beach & Eagle Pines come to mind, both were officially announced and the never built. Newport Beach property was sold to Marriott, who did develop a timeshare there.

Eagle Pines, of course, was abandoned and SSR built instead. Eagle Pines location is currently slated to be a Four Seasons timeshare.

Do you mean Four Seasons hotel? I hadn't heard of a Four Seasons timeshare? Do you have a link of that?

Yes it would be wise and that''s why I think a decision has already been made one way or another. We just don't know what it is yet.

Disney knows they could never build a resort that would appeal to 100% of the market. I would be shocked if Disney would spend 110 million dollars on constructing a resort, then test the waters to determine its end use…… That’s like putting the cart before the horse.

The building permit says the owner is JMSRM Inc. State records show that is a fictitious name created in August 2006 by Celebration-based Disney Vacation Development, parent company of the Disney Vacation Club time-share arm.

I’m not a huge fan of the contemporary, but CRV will bring life back into the old Flagship resort. I don’t think it’s a coincidence the CR is being renovated with expanded restaurants and shops.

While your first statement may be true (although many a DVC CM has said there is quite a bit of interest), I do think a CRV will be quite a draw for those unfamiliar with the whole DVC concept (a shocking thought, I know - unfamiliar with DVC??) IMO, it is targeting a more specialized portion of WDW visitors. I believe many DVC owners continue to vacation at WDW yet with much less emphasis on visiting the parks. While this style owner might well be less interested in CRV ownership, there are quite a few regular WDW visitors that would never consider staying anywhere other than a monorail resort.

For us, while the overall theming of the Contemporary has never appealed, we do see the benefit of being so close to MK. Our children are teens but we have younger nieces. when they come along in the future, spending a few days close to MK would be wonderful.

That put us in the group of "won't buy but sure hope that we will get a chance to use our points there!"

Not everybody wants CRV....GOOD....leaves more for me!!! Maybe, the point price won't be sky high....I wish.

as long as we're "just talking"

what would be the most you would pay per point - lets not bring any incentives into this - lets assume DVC says it's so popular we're not offering any.

what would you (if you are indeed interested) be willing to pay.

we've talked about it and though i don't think we'd purchase the same as we have with AK i think we'd prob buy between 100 and 150.

I think we'd be willing to pay $115 for them. (and yes of course we'd love $10-15 off per point :) )

Yeah those that want to appear they are vacationing "in the best of the best" DVC resorts (not my opinion by the way). There will always be those who will always overpay just to have the bragging rights of " I bought at CRV!" It's more than the monorail thing. Too much greed IMHO.

Nope, for me it is the monorail thing....and probably a little sentiment involved too. I would prefer it to be the Poly....my family spent many vacations there. My DH's family stayed at the CR. I prefer the resorts at MK or Epcot. It's just a personal preference for me...not about "bragging rights"!

Maybe CRV will make it easier to get a room at any of the "little 3".

I can imagine that a lot of DVC owners would at least like to stay there, even if the do not intend on purchasing points.

I am on the fence about purchasing CRV. I want more points of course, but do I really NEED them:rotfl: ( I can't believe I just said that):scared1:

What that you want more points.....or do you really need them? If it's the latter.....I sure this will pass.....you'll come to your senses....because of course you always need more.:lmao:
