Contemporary Remodeling Question

I remember not to long ago hearing that Contemporary is going to go through some major changes (something about moving a restaurant and the arcade) I was curious if anyone knows when this is uppose to start and end and what exactly is gettong remodeled. We really want to stay there but my husband is curious about the arcade, if it won't be open I believe we will be staying at YC. We plan on going Oct 28-31. If anyone has any info I'd really appreciate it.

We are staying at the Contemporary next month, so I've been watching this topic very closely. The latest news is there is no news, at least no timeline. It sounds like the plans are just on paper at this point. I will be sure to ask when I am at the CR in March, and I will report back to you.

All I know is that we could not get a room for our September trip and we tried several times. The CM's could not understand why - I am only guessing b/c of the rumored refurb.

WHOAA - just checked online and was able to get CR-Tower room for the time we are staying. Perhaps the reservations were on temporary hold when we originally booked in January. Now we have to change our trip!

My Fiance and I are headed to the CR in October of this year for our Honeymoon. We have booked a Tower Room but wanted to know the impact on the hotel, hotel service and other things now that the South Wing will be closed due to remodel (and maybe DVC expansion).

Any information, from a CR Cast Member, or from CRO, or anyone who may have been to the CR recently.. PLEASE let us know!

Mouseplanet says they're closing one of the garden wings (south, I think) form May 30th to Oct. something.

Hi all! Talked with the resort this a.m.. I had the same question myself. They have been planning this for awhile so they are only taking reservations for the rooms they will have. It is not like they have overbooked and then will have to move people because of the construction (or destruction hehe) of the south wing. Therefor they do not anticipate the resort to be overrun. Your guess is as good as mine if this holds true. This is also a fairly busy time of the year with MNSSHP at the MK. I know a fair amount of people who go to the party on the weekends like to stay there.

So does anyone know if this is just a rehab or are they really converting to DVC? And if it is a rehab of the existing wing--will they change the decor?

We were at the CR in the North Wing last week and they were putting down new carpet and wall paper and repainting in the hallways - not the rooms. I don't know if that is just regular maintenance or what. The carpet was different than what was there before - it is now a dark brown. Even though they were doing work in the afternoons outside our room it didn't affect our stay at all. We have a toddler who naps in the afternoon and that would have been a problem but I had brought a sound machine so it masked any of the noise. Otherwise I'm sure they would have moved us.

I'll note that someone was smoking in a room nearby and you could smell it VERY strongly in OUR bathroom whenever they did this. They told me at the hotel that this sometimes happens and there is no way to tell who is smoking in a room where they shouldn't be. We left the windows open (with the air blasting) just to air it out. My son also has asthma so it was a potential problem and they offered to move us but we were able to air out the room well enough just to put up with it
