I'm going to the Contemp next month w/DD (3). I had originally booked us at the POR but upgraded to Contemp because of the bus issues I had read. Now I'm concerned about the lack of breakfast items there and the fact that we're in the Garden View. Am I really saving any time by staying at the Contemp and walking to the Garden View, I don't mind the walk but it looks like it's quite a ways away from the tower/monorail. Also, without a restaurant in the morning, what are people doing for breakfast there? We stayed at the Poly Concierge level last year, so when Cap'n Cooks was closed it didn't bother us much - we at the breakfast in the lounge. Just wondering if it's worth the extra $800. Thanks for any responses.

In the amount of time that it takes the bus to reach all four stops at POR and finally get on its way to your destination, you probably would have made it inside the tower, on the monorail, and possibly in the MK or on the Epcot monorail. Chef Mickeys is still open, so there is that option for breakfast. I was there last week and the food center in the lobby was also still open...

There will be a temporary quick service locaton on the Tower's 4th floor along with Chef Mickey's and Concourse Steakhouse which serve breakfast. You can also use room service for breakfast. I stayed in the south wing for a few days last Dec. and its only about a five minute walk from the wing to tower.

You might want to consider requesting a room close to the tower. It can be a long walk if you have a room at the back by Bay Lake (however, those are my favorite because I like the view), but the walk from the rooms closer to the tower is not bad at all. There is a covered walkway, if the weather is bad. I feel it's also easier to access the pool from the wing rooms. I actually prefer the wing rooms to the tower rooms, although I've stayed in both. They seem a lot quieter to me. The only drawback is the lack of balconies.

We stayed at the CR back in May with 2 DD age 6 and 4. We had a garden room first floor (which I would recommend requesting) with a great patio. We did not find the walk bad to the monorail, only about 5 minutes and I would say we were in the middle of the wing. To us, the monorail is worth the convenience. I can not comment on breakfast, we brought simple things with us, like granola bars and just bought milk when we got there. I loved the garden view room, large and spacious. Enjoy!!!

We always did quick food for breakfast. One of us would run down while the rest were getting dressed and would pick up bagels and muffins, that sort of thing. We'd eat in the room while getting ready and then head out to the parks. I did eat at the Food N Fun Center for breakfast a couple of times in past trips, but we don't usually bother with things like pancakes and eggs. The Concourse Steakhouse has a good breakfast menu, and it's easier to walk in without reservations. My niece and I had breakfast there on our last day so she could have Mickey waffles and watch the monorail one last time before we left for home.

It's a great resort and you'll have a wonderful time there! I'll be back there in two months and I can't wait!!

I think it depends on how you define "long" as far as the walk goes. I honestly have never thought of the walk as even remotely long. It's just a short, pleasant walk. I would not base your plans on that.

The lack of breakfast shouldn't be much of a problem either. There's always chef mickey's. And the temporary place on the 4th floor should have a few options. Or you could walk over to the MK and eat there. The bakery on main street is good and the crystal palace is also a great option.

I never thought about just going to MK and grabbing something there. Great ideas! I might as well keep the ressies then. We added 4 days onto the end of our trip and I think I have sticker shock right now :)

I agree that you should keep you're reservations at the Contemporary because with a 3 year old it is the best place to stay.
