Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge?

Hi there.....

We decided to upgrade from POFQ to Contemporary, even though it was a bit more money. WL was not available, so we chose to spend the extra $ for a monorail hotel. With two little ones, it seemed worth it to avoid the bus line and to be easily accessible to things. Our trip dates are 12/13-12/18.

That said, I love the look of WL, especially in December with all the Christmas Decorations. I was told by the reservation cast member that I could continue calling, to see if any rooms at WL opened up.

Thoughts? Is the monorail worth the extra $$? Also, the larger rooms at the Contemporary really appealed to me. It sounds, though, like the WL has a better program for kids?

UGH! Decisions! :confused3

Thanks in advance!

We have stayed at WL and CR. We prefer the Contemporary- the rooms are huge!! We find the WL rooms a little cramped and with two teenage boys- the size of the room matters alot! Not only is the CR on the monorail, it is only a short walk to MK!! That is so wonderful!! :)

We have stayed at both. We love them both but given the choice, we would go with Contemporary. We stayed there many times when our kids were little and it was just so nice to be able to hop on the monorail and go right to the room. The pool is pretty cool too. Not sure how old your kids are but they have a slide at the pool that our kids loved. We are staying at WL this year but my husband keeps going on and looking for a room at the Contemporary. The only thing they have for our vacation right now is tower MK view. Can't swing that one financially. Many people say that there is a lack of theming at CR but we love it and staying on the monorail just really puts you right in the middle of the magic.

Added: We went over the CR at Christmas one year and they had Santa there. Not sure if it was something they do every year but it was a nice extra that we hadn't counted on.

It hardly ever is around that time. I would love to stay at WL during Christmas time, smaller rooms or not but that will never happen because we have way too much family that comes down during that time. Just keep calling and calling and calling. Personally, I've had the best results on Monday mornings. Don't ask me why. :confused3

I would keep your reservation at the Contemporary because having the Resort Monorail with little kids will make things a lot easier for you, plus you have the walkway to the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary rooms are a lot bigger then the Wilderness Lodge rooms.

I love the Wilderness Lodge (it's my DVC home resort), but in your situation I would keep my Contemporary Resort reservation for the larger rooms, the monorail, and the walkway to Magic Kingdom. The Lodge is just a short boat ride away, any time you want to visit and check out the Christmas decorations. :)
