You know Disney just offered a heck of a deal on the Riviera and I can stay there for an $800 savings on my next scheduled trip. I've never stayed in a DVC studio and am, like so many of us, second guessing my options. Not sure about the skyliner (will be be clogged with people from CBR and so essential useless...am I going to have to switch gondolas at CBR to get to HS... and is that any worse than going from resort monorail line to Epcot line?) and the room itself. Just how uncomfortable is a murphy bed? Share your thoughts with me. If a late winter/early spring discount comes out, I might move over to BWI and the angst is all for naught!

Riviera does have larger studios with queen beds (non-murphy beds) if you are interested. I personally wouldn't sleep on a murphy bed for a vacation. Maybe for one night, but not for a whole week.

Getting to Epcot on the monorail from CR takes a while. I'd say about 30 minutes from your door to the gate at EP. You have to transfer at the TTC to the Epcot line. I'd almost think the skyliner might be faster, but I don't know for sure.

Walking to EP from BW is the way to go!

Reports are that the Murphy beds are more comfortable than the sofa beds. I don’t think that’s saying much. But they have a real mattress as opposed to the torture device that is housed in a sofa bed frame.

RIV has its own Skyliner station but it is on the Epcot line. CBR is the hub station where you would have to disembark and change to the HS line if you’re going there. Because it is a stop on the Epcot line, there will be a number of gondolas that will enter the RIV station which are already full of guests who got on in Epcot and are heading to CBR, AoA, POP or HS. Going in the other directions, many gondolas will already be filled with guests heading to Epcot from those locations. You may need to wait a bit for an empty gondola unless the CMs at the CBR hub think to leave an occasional one empty for RIV guests. The RIV station also does not have a separate HA loading area like the other stations have.

It's all a bit of an unknown at this point. The Skyliner just opened and Riviera doesn't open until December. Many reports are stating that, even with a line, loading onto the Skyliner doesn't take long. Which parks are you going to the most? If it's EP and DHS, Riviera would be more convenient than CR. Which studio did you book and how many people will be in the room? We booked a Riviera 1-bedroom under the discount for a few nights over Christmas week. I love the discount and the room looks amazing, but, I too, am second-guessing my choice! Perhaps keep the Riviera reservation and then re-assess once Riviera opens, reviews come out and more discounts are released for your time period?

$800 is a lot of cheddar. I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary but when it comes time to pay the piper I can never justify it's extra cost. I'd go RIV in this case.
