Contemporary North Garden Wing will be changed into DVC Resorts???

This from Wikipedia:

The idea of a block of rooms was what my friend at Disney originally suggested. The rumours continue.

.....

Recent announcements

In May 2005, Disney Vacation Club announced that they would make a presence at the Disneyland Resort in California.
It is rumored among DVC members that the next Disney Vacation Club accommodations will be at an accommodation block at Disney's Contemporary Resort, although this rumor has lost steam over the past year.
In the early-2000s, it became possible for DVC members to spend their points on accommodations at the Disneyland Resort in California and the Disneyland Resort Paris, and in 2005, it became possible to spend points at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. In 2006, Tokyo Disney Resort became available to members.

I'm willing to bet that DVC does not announce one resort but three or four at a time. Disney has been ranked 1 in recent years as the best vacation ownership club. But to keep you with Marriott or Hilton, who do sell five to seven different locations at a time, Disney might try to do the same.

So imagine if you will ...
1. Contemporary Resort DVC Villas
2. The Villas at the Animal Kingdom Lodge
3 The Villas at The Grand Californian
4 And an Offsite resort in Hawaii or Colorado

That would be awesome wouldn't it :cool1:

Sure would make it easier for my family to do DL if they'd do this! We had to pay 95 points a night for 4 nights in a 2BR suite at the GC this past Feb.... more than a week in a 2BR DVC resort!

If DVC follows the same pattern they did when BCV was beginning to sell (this was preconstruction....at the time the land was being cleared) they won't wait until SSR is completely sold to announce and start preselling another resort. I know VWL wasn't completely sold when they began selling BCV because when we bought (12/01) we had the option to buy either. Our guide told us there was still a small supply of VWL contracts or we could purchase preconstruction at BCV. We bought at VWL. I suspect part of the reason SSR wasn't announced until well after BCV was sold out had something to do with the economic conditions post 9/11, maybe not wholly but I would bet that played a part.

Does anyone know when the fall press event is scheduled for October? We'll be there 10/14 thru 10/20 and I'd love to be there if there is an announcement made....

I was just up at Disney the other day and I grilled some DVC staff about the Contemporary rumor. I was not told that I was incorrect but each told me that it would be "some time before anything like that would be offerred" as there are still some major renovations already planned for the hotel that would have priority, such as moving teh Concorse (sp?) Steak House to the first floor and move the arcade up to the fourth floor by Chef Mickeys.

Just wanted to share what I was told

Someone on the CR thread up on the Resorts board just posted that they were told by the concierge staff at CR that the north wing is being converted to DVC. It was presented as fact, not rumor. All I can say is ... Yippee!

No reason those things couldn't go on at the same time; construction of an entire new DVC building would take a lot longer than any of those renovations.

I just posted some pictures of a supposed rendering of the new DVC facilitiy, from www.screamscape.com. It's an eye-opener! popcorn::

Thanks, Greg. God I hope they don't go with it though. It looks like a Waikiki-style hotel, with a water slide connecting it to the Contemporary Tower. I don't think I want a 15-story DVC.

I saw a thread on Sunday that had a link to a NY archietect's web site. On that site under their "New Projects" was listed the Contemporary DVC with a completion date of 2008 and renderings of the building.

On Monday, it had been removed from the site! Sounds like somebody got a little ahead of Disney.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but looks like this may actually happen.

Even when others had their doubts that it would be a DVC building I always thought it would be one and based on what's been happening with the construction and the rumours, it's only a matter of time until there is an official announcement from Walt Disney World and Disney Vacation Club.

I will admit I also had my doubts until I saw the NY archietect's web site. It had renderings of a proposed DVC at CR building. It was only posted for a day I think.

I am still hoping fthe new tower will be DVC!

I'm guessing that this was really going to happen. Several sites (mouseplanet.com and allearsnet.com) say it is going to happen. It would be smart of Disney to have a villas around 7 seas lagoon

But even more importantly, DVC on the monorail, and DVC in walking distance to the MK. They will probably sell these out quicker than any of the other DVC resorts.

I really think the rooms look bigger then a normal room. I just cannot decide if it will be DVC or Suites. We were there a month ago and they were putting in some of the glass in:

They were also building a bridge from the new building to the 4th floor of the Tower. I know that is probably old news for some, but wanted to share the picture.
