Opinions Please!

If you had the chance to stay in the garden wing at the Contemporary would you or is not being in the tower not worth it? I have stayed at the Contemporary previously, but in the tower, and loved it. I now have the opportunity to return, but only to the garden wing. Did you feel like you were left out of the activity and everything was far away?

Thanks

We just got back from a stay in the Garden Wing. I had tried for weeks to get a room in the tower, but had no luck. I enjoyed this room more than I expected to! We spent a lot of time at the pool and this location was perfect for that. I wished we had a 1st floor room for an outdoor space, but I would definitely stay here again. It seemed closer to the main building than some other deluxe rooms we have stayed at (AKL, YC, BW).

Thanks, didn't think about being closer to the pool area.

The garden wing rooms are very nice. No, they do not have the spectacular views of the Tower, but the garden views are still quite lovely. The big loss, IMO, is the balcony. However, for the difference in price, we have opted on several occasions to stay in the garden wing quite happily. the rooms themselves are identical to those in the tower and the garden wing is only a short covered walkway from the tower, so it doesn't feel far away at all.

The Garden Wing, garden view rooms are a great deal for staying on the monorail. Request a ground floor room and you may even be lucky and get a patio!

Good luck!

Can you tell me how long it would take to walk from Garden Wing to get our morning coffee (using refillable mugs)? We are staying at CR for the first time this August and have a Garden Wing room. Also, how long (casual pace) to walk from Garden Wing to entrance of MK? This (walking to MK) is probably the thing that I am looking forward to the most:-) Thank you.

We stayed twice in the garden wing and requested the first floor so we would have a patio. We really liked CR garden wing and I was tempted to go back again this year but we're staying at YC instead. We were near the front entrance and the parking lot with a standard view so the walk to the main building was just a few minutes. I think walking in to MK was around 10 to 15 minutes.

I confess that I haven't really timed any of this, but it never felt very long to me. I am a very slow walker (senior, bad knees and a plus sized lady) so my assessment my be off a bit for someone else.
Also, it kinda depends upon where in the GW your room is located and how fast a casual pace is for you. However, I would say that you would most likely be able to get you coffee in about 5 minutes and walk to the MK in 15 - 20 from most rooms in the GW.

I stayed in the Garden Wing for a few nights last August. Where my room was located was maybe a two minute walk to the main lobby, at the very most. It was my first time staying at that resort, so I have nothing to compare it to. But I did not feel separated from the tower at all. I would imagine the time it took to walk from the Garden Wing to Contempo Cafe, the shops, etc is probably not that much different from walking down the hallway and taking an elevator in the tower.
It is also much closer to the pool, and we were super close to the parking lot which is a nice perk if you are using your own car.

It was maybe a ten minute walk from the GW to MK for us, using a moderate pace and cutting through the main lobby to shave off some steps/time.

Edited to add: we had a first floor room, just slightly to the right of the main building. It was seriously close. I was pleasantly surprised since I am used to the walking distances of Pop and CBR. In my opinion the Garden Wing is quite awesome.

I wouldn't...a balcony is a must for me and I want to make sure it is guaranteed.

We've stayed in a garden wing room on several occasions and really enjoyed it. We love the Contemporary, but it's nice to be removed from the hustle and bustle. A first floor room is a treat with a patio especially with a water or garden view.
