Planning a trip summer of 2022. We want to stay at a monorail resort and keep changing our selected one/room. Probably looking at 6 nights. Would love to stay at the main tower but it's $1300 more than the Garden Wing for the lake view (or $1600 CAD for us as we are Canadian). That's a lot of money that could otherwise be put towards meals or extras such as dessert fireworks, etc.

When pricing it out, the following are close in cost
  • Contemporary - Garden Wing- Standard View
  • Contemporary - Garden WIng - Garden View
  • Polynesian - Standard View
What are people's experiences at these? Any preference? We are leaning towards Contemporary for the main purpose of being able to walk to MK...plus we liked Chef Mickey's breakfast buffet last time so I could see us going there again. Would also want a quick breakfast place but I think both of these have QS within it.

Also, what about CR Standard Room vs Garden room?

We don't expect to spend a ton of time at the resort (maybe on arrival day if we don't get park tickets), but otherwise will be at the park, but I've heard some negative comments on the Garden Wing. Is Polynesian better? Our kids will be 17 and 13 if that makes a difference.

Poly will be finished with a full refurb in late July of this year. Easy access to both MK and Epcot monorail. Beautiful grounds. Short walk to GF for more dining options.

CR tower will be starting an Incredibles-themed refurb. Could be noisy. But walk to MK is very short. Monorail to TTC for Epcot monorail, or to Poly and GF for additional dining choices.

CR Garden Wing has very large rooms but they are starting to show their age. No word on whether they will be included in the planned refurb or if Disney has other plans for those rooms.

My feeling is "don't risk it" when it comes to Garden Wing. If CR is what you decide on, the stay in the tower. But my preference is for the Poly over CR.

Thanks. When you say that CR Garden Wing rooms are large, I assume you are referring to the deluxe room? We would be looking at Garden Wing Standard or Garden View. I think these are same size as tower rooms?

Poly! We stayed at BLT once and we just did not care for the theming at all. We have stayed at the Poly a few times before and are staying there again in August. The rooms on the hotel side of the resort are undergoing a refurb and they look really, really nice. You can now walk to the MK from the Poly. I also love the convenience of the TTC to monorail over to Epcot. The food options are great, too. Capt. Cook’s is probably my favorite QS at any resort. Standard view rooms at the Poly still are nice views. I do think the Contemporary rooms are undergoing a room refurb, too, but only in the tower at this time.

Good luck with your decision!

I wanted to add that the Poly was excluded from the summer discount that was recently released. Going forward it’s hard to know what discounts will look like. I think travel demand is way up and people are willing to pay money. I can see the Poly and the Contemporary once renovated being excluded in discounts in the near future. I guess time will tell.

Thanks. Good to hear the feedback.
Think we're leaning towards CR - even just Garden Wing Standard room but that lets us add another day to our trip. Figure we won't be spending too much time in the room and it's still close to the main tower and with the convenience of the walk to MK and 1 monorail stop away from TTC for Epcot.

I think it really depends what your priorities are. If you would rather be able to walk to MK as opposed to relying on the monorail, I would pick CR-Garden Wing. I actually prefer the garden wing over the tower at CR. It's typically very quiet and it's really nice to be able to just walk to the MK path, The Wave, the pool, the escalators to Chef Mickey's and the monorail and not have to rely on the super-crowded CR tower elevators. Poly is lovely and the theming is amazing, but I find it to be loud and, perhaps we are unlucky, but I find the monorail to be a bit unreliable.

And Poly is only 2 stops to MK on the monorail (once they reopen). We stayed at Contemporary previously and the walk to MK was no issue, but after walking miles at the park, it was nice to hop the monorail to return and it drops you off in the lobby. We stayed in the main tower and never had issues with noise or long wait times for elevators.

Poly! The rooms will be refurbished and you’ll be closer to restaurants/monorail.
