I booked 14th floor concierge today and the CM told me that all of the concierge rooms on this floor face the MK, is that true? What are the rooms on the other side of the 14th floor? Can anyone give me their opinions on the 14th floor? The second half of our trip is at AKL concierge, has anyone done both and can you let me know the differences, likes or dislikes, etc. Is their a room preference at either resort? Thanks for any help or insight.

There are concierge rooms not facing MK. You get to see the EWP from that side :) .

We've done both. IMO the 14th floor is nicer. Since most of the rooms up there are suites, there are very few guests and the lounge is never crowded. The afternoon/evening food selections are more traditional at the CR. AKL gets their food from BOMA.

When we stayed at the CR, we had to check in in the lobby. At the AKL, we were brought right up to the concierge lounge to check in.

The concierge rooms at the AKL are on the 5th and 6th floors. On the 5th floor, they could be a long way away from the lounge but they have the better savanah view.

We have stayed CR 14th floor and both times had a water view. At first I was disappointed, but I *really* enjoyed the water view - lots to look at such as the ealy morning parasailers, the boats, fireworks, etc. We spent time on the lounges balcony watching the MK fireworks.

The CM's at the CR are really nice! There's a gentleman there (Bill?) who knows a lot about the resort and it's great if you can get him talking.

We LOVE the location and the convenience of just walking *home* from the MK while everyone else is waiting for a bus, ferry or monorail. (You can also walk over but we like the monorail to get there..)

The balconies are HUGE! Really, you could hold a DIS meet on one! :)

We have also stayed AKL concierge two summers ago and that lounge is WONDERFUL! I love the view from it - overlooking the lobby. We loved our room and all the animals that were outside - my youngest and I sat on our balcony so many times just taking it all in. The food offerings were very good then but I am not sure what they are re now - we have noticed that all of the concierge lounges are cutting back on food.

Go on the sunrise safari as it is worth the $$$$. Take in all the little details in the lodge...very, very nice! The pool is NOT dirty, it just looks that way to look like a watering hole! :)

Hope you have fun!! :)

We spent a whole week there last Sept. It was wonderful. Only 1 room has a lake view, the others have MK views. We requested, and received, this lake view room. It was incrediably beautiful. We especially enjoyed watching the water parade from our balacony.

Since the lounge has an MK view, we'd wonder over there to watch the fireworks and when we wanted to see the MK. So it was the best of both worlds.

The Concierge's are really nice. They remembered our names.

Breakfast was a nice continental spread. Several kinds of breads, rolls, fresh fruit, cereal, juices, etc. They have the oatmeal packets too. Mid day was just bars/cookies, goldfish, etc., very light. At 5pm they put out a very nice spread. 2 kinds of hot horderves (shrimp scampi, pot stickers, veal chops, beef wellington, chicken wellington, etc), veggies & dip, humus, bread/rolls, pb&j, etc. Plus beer & wine. Around 9, they put out the desserts and cordials. Perfect for watching the fireworks!

The rooms themselves were starting to look a bit worn. I know they are scheduled for rehab in the near future.

A tip, first thing to do when you arrive, is get a balloon and tie it to your balacony. It helps to keep the birds away. There are tons of them and they "drop" all over the place.

We really enjoyed our stay. We felt very pampered.

This is great info! I am surprising my hubby with a stay Sept 30- Oct 2 before we head over to the BWV for the week. I am so excited! I have heard mixed info on the check in thing. I have heard some people have been taken up to the 14th floor for check in and others have said they have had to wait downstairs to check in. Can anyone clarify?

No one will actually "tell" you to go up to check in. If you go over to the main desk they will check you in. What you need to do is tell the bell hops that your are staying on 14 and need to have someone take you up so you may check in. Don't be suprised if they look at you like you've got 9 heads ;) . The 14th floor is very small, so lots of hopps aren't familiar with the process.

I'll be at CR 9/25- 9/30 and then we head over to AKL from 9/30-10/6. We'll be passing each other at CR. I know at AKL you go directly upstairs to check in and at Poly they take you back to concierge on the golf carts to check in. I'll try asking the bell hops.

I just got 14th floor for Labor Day weekend! I am so excited. We got a king MK view! I've been wanting to stay here for about 2 years and finally got a chance WOOHOO!
