Planning spring trip and can't decide. Will have 5 (3 kids) in room. Concerned with room size at PO and noise/chaos at CR. Any info/opinions on either are welcomed. Thanks.

I've never stayed at PO, but we love the Contemporary and can't wait to go back in May. We have stayed here several times and love it here because of the location to MK. You can walk to MK if you don't want to take the monorail. The restaurants are great and there is a huge arcade. The food and fun center is okay. There are 2 pools and a playground. You can take the boat from CR to visit Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness lodge.

I have only stayed in the tower and I have found those rooms to be bright and roomy. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful, we have never had any problems here.

We've stayed at POR twice. We love it. That being said...you would probably be better off with 3 kids at the CR. Two queens and a daybed would be better than 2 doubles and a trundle (in AB only). We would love to stay at CR if we can get a good rate this summer. Time will tell.

I think you would be better off with the CR. It is on the monorail line to the Magic Kingdom and if you have 3 kids you will be spending a great deal of time there. I also think you would enjoy all of the restaurants and character meals at the CR. POR in my opinion is a bit more grown up. If I was a child I would defintely pick CR. Hope that helps!!!:):)

If money is not an issue, then definitely try the CR.
Rooms are bigger than PO. You will have interior corridors, and a private balcony/patio. The noise/choas is only in the main part of the hotel -- its so open everything echoes. This is where shops, restaurants are located. I don't think it affects the noise level in the tower rooms. There are rooms in the wings -- which are quiet.

I have to agree with previous posters on going with CR. A friend of mine just got back from PO and told me that with five in their room, it was very hard. They had two doubles and a trundle, and the only person who got any sleep on any night was the child in the trundle. I have to admit her husband is a large man, but even when she moved into her son's bed, she got pummelled all night, lol. She told me next time she will definately go with a room with two queens and a daybed, which if I am not mistaken CR has.

While I really don't like the CR, I think it is the better of the two, especially with the convenience of the monorail.

On an offnote, we had six in the Poly and it worked out great. There were two beds (can't recall if queen or double) and a daybed. We had one baby, so it was a great fit for us.

Agree with Kel here. We had four comfortably (one in a crib) at the Poly in Jan02. Could easily have fit six in the room. You may want to consider Poly over CR... and PO for this stay. Plus you'll be walking distance to TTC as well as right on the Monorail, and a boatride away from MK.

Location, location, location. Oh, and monorail, monorail, monorail.
...CR

Well, if I had 3 kids, and price wasn't an issue, there would be no doubt about the fact, that I would choose the Contemporary over PO-R.

Basically we are talking 434 sq ft of living space as compared to 315 sq ft of living space. Two queen beds and a day bed, compared with 2 double beds and a trundle. Walking to the MK, and a short ride to the TTC for Epcot, instead of busses for everything. Much larger bathrooms with a great layout. Irons and ironing boards in the room, and you don't have to request them.

No doubt... the Contemporary is the choice for families of 5 who can afford it!

We haven't stayed at POR, but we are a family of five and LOVE the Contemporary. It is a little more expensive, but not much if you get a standard view wing room. The daybed is big enough to fit an adult comfortably, as my older two are full grown already - the trundle at POR is meant for a small child. They also add $15/night to the base price of the POR room for the fifth person - so prices are fairly comparable. The queen sized beds are much nicer than doubles, IMHO. We have never had a problem with noise or chaos, but we do usually go during the quiet season. With SOG there - we will test the system as we will be back at the CR for three days in December.

We have also stayed in the tower, with no noise in our room - although the Concourse outside Chef Mickey's can get loud.

Although the theming of POR's pool looks better - we love all the amenities of CR, and you can't beat being able to walk to the MK in less than 10 minutes!

Happy choosing!

We have stayed at both resorts and we did enjoy the larger room at the CR and you just can't beat the monorail. But our family still would probably choose POFQ because of the 'resort' feel it is nice to have the grounds to stroll around . The CR is more of just a huge hotel.
When we stay at PO we pack our Aero bed set it up in the area by the sinks at night and slide it under the bed during the day. The bed did not take up too much room in our suitcase and our 6'3" 15 yr old was comfortable on it.

I think you will be happy with either choice you make.

Stayed at both and I think you would have to be crazy not to pick the CR over the POR. CR rooms are bigger and the location cannot be beat. You will save tons of time using the monorail and walking to MK over the busses. Our last trip we only used the bus once, to come back from MGM. Nothing like rolling out of bed, being at Chef Mickey's in less than 5 min., then walking to MK in less than 10 min.
