I will be moving in about 2 weeks to a new home about 2 hours from where we live now. I LOVE my eye doctor and plan to continue to use him for my once yearly check-ups since I will be back here very often but it will be inconvenient to colme up here when ever I need to get new boxes of contacts.

has anyone used a on-line order company that they are really happy with that I may look into?

I don't use an online company, but I get my contacts from Walmart. They have them in stock vs waiting 2 weeks for my Dr to order them. They are exactly the same contacts for about 1/2 the price from the eye dr. Just have him phone in the prescription or take a copy with you.

I've used Mycl.com for a couple of years and they've been fine. I just switched to Drugstore.com because the lenses were cheaper.

You might just explain that to the doctor and his office will mail them to you.

I have ordered them online for several years now. I have used a few different places. I can't remember which ones, though. I just always go online and compare prices. Whichever one is cheaper is the one I use. **I do make sure that I have heard of the place before*** Also, I usually order 2 years' worth because the more you buy, the cheaper they are per box.
I can tell you that it is always MUCH CHEAPER than the eye doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The past two years we've just called up our dr and ordered new glasses or contacts. He mails them right to us. (Luckily, our prescription hasn't changed). Otherwise the drive is too long - he's in California and we are in Florida! Tho this fall we will go to a local dr.

I've been through having them mailed, and that was a little inconvenient because I would never think about it far enough in advance!

I get mine at Wal-Mart too. Your eye doc can fax the prescription there, and they can transfer stores if necessary. It's much more convenient than having to trust an online company to get them to you.

Cost-wise, I'd have to check. If I'm paying twice as much, I can see changing. But the last time I checked, they were cheaper at Wal-Mart than anywhere else.

I just bought contacts for my son. The eye doctor wanted $140 for a six-months supply. I paid $79.98 at an optician right here in town. That was LOWER than I found on line. I called a number of opticians and got all sorts of prices -- Sears said they would match anything I could find.

His previous prescription was $50 at the eye doctor and $26 something at BJs. BJs does not carry his new prescription.
