Contacted back about my email on kids dessert choices

For the people who don't like the new kids' dessert item, are you asking if they can have a different dessert or just taking the jello and throwing it away without asking the CM? Just curious... Trying to plan for my trip! :goodvibes

I hate aspertaine. I get really bad headaches from it. DH searched everywhere for regular jello when we had the stomach bug last trip. I would not eat the jello and I would not let the kids eat it. We had crackers and flat sprite instead. I think they should have both reguar and sugar free as an option. I would rather give the kids fruit but it was not always offered.

You would think the CM who called you would have taken the time to check a few menus before calling, no?

I can't believe (well, I can, but you know what I mean) that someone would insist there were more options when she obviously doesn't know what she's talking about. Too bad you didn't get her email, hers personally. You could have sent her the links to the menus... here or on All Ears.

IMO if they can offer sugar free jello it would be just as easy to store package and offer regular jello along side. I too do not allow my kids to have it. I think it is a good idea for people who have to have it but there should be other offers too. Looks like I will be taking baggies with cookies or fruities for my kids to have for dessert.

That would have been a good idea.

But, I felt like I was bothering her and she was rushing me off the phone before I could ask her anything else.

Maybe we should all be taking the sugar free jello from the kids CS meals...and mailing them (full and unopened) to the head honcho that decided this was the 'best' choice for the kids menu. Maybe by the time he/she recieved a few hundred of them....they'd get the point..."We are NOT feeding them to our kids!!" :goodvibes

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That would be awesome!!!!

I hope that if they get enough emails and complaints, maybe they will offer at least one other choice for our children...

Oh yes, I wasn't saying that you should have and didn't. (Don't want you to think I was criticizing in any way.) I wouldn't have thought of it while I was on the phone either, I'm sure. :goodvibes

Jcemom,

I totally understand.....I didn't think you were criticizing me. I just felt so rushed on the phone, that I couldn't think on my feet....

DS will not eat jello at all. He hates it, and I don't blame him. It's gross. Do they not offer fruit as a dessert? It's been a while since we were there last, but if DS couldn't get a regular dessert he was usually able to get some grapes or applesauce. Of course I would share any of my desserts with him.

Menus are not completely reflective of what is available. Always ask if you can get something different.

Is this Jello thing new? When we went in December, we always ordered anything off the dessert menu for our kids at CS places and never had a problem. They had cookies, chocolate cake, etc. and no one ever told us they could only have Jello.

Same here in November. My kids had cookies several places is November.

The grapes and applesauce are still being offered as "sides" with the kids' meals, as well as carrot sticks. The sugar-free Jello is the only dessert item offered for kids at quite a few of the CS restaurants.

Hello fellow jerseyan!!!! What part of Jersey you from? South Jersey Here!!!

That sucks. We will be throwing out that jello as well......

DS and I will be stuck sharing desserts all week.....oh well

Hello fellow Jerseyan!!!! I'm from SOUTH Jersey, too.:cool1:

We're heading to the world on April 28th and we're gonna be on the DDP and my kids in no way, shape or form will eat jello (sugar free or otherwise). I certainly hope they will substitute or I might have some unhappy kiddos on my hands. I guess I'll have to share my dessert:sad: LOL!!!

i would ask if you can have something else for your kids. A cookie or cake or even fruit is better than Jello, Yuck! Have a great vacation.:goodvibes .

For what it's worth, we were there from Jan. 28th-February 3rd with 3 children (ages 7,5,3) and never had a single cup of Jello. Every time it was offered I asked if there was another option without artificial sweeteners, and I was never refused a different dessert in any of our meals.

From what I can remember, we ate at Cosmic Rays, Tusker House, Sunshine Seasons, Electric Umbrella, Pinocchio's, and several other CS restaurants.

I received a call from MGM Executive offices on Friday evening. First, I think this is the office that must return most of the dining complaints. I say that because my cast member eluded to that during the conversation stating 'she had spoken to hundreds of people over the past months with various opinions to the dining changes'. She stated that the meals (counter and sit down) are not in the final stages of changes and that more changes should be expected. She kindly explained that so many opinions have been given by Disney guests and many options are being explored. And she hoped we would be more pleasaed the next time we returned to Disney.

I am not sure what all that exactly means except she gave me a very politically correct answer that does not really tell me a thing. She was very nice but non commital to telling what other options may be. I gave my opinion on everything from the meal choices and the desserts. She did say that any time you substitute vegetables for the side you should have no problem receiving the apple slices or applesause for a dessert. Not much of a choice but at least there are no sweetners. pixiedust:

That's good to hear since I don't let my DD7 eat any "diet" food. I don't want her to eat the chemicals in the diet foods, especially since she doesn't have a weight issue. Of course, when we were there in Sept., the menus hadn't changed so desserts where never an issue. She loved getting a frozen lemonade at Flametree BBQ as her dessert! :goodvibes And an Itzakadozee and Mickey premium bar at TL and BB.

Hopefully, all the changes to the kid's menus will be resolved before September (fingers crossed)

Always good to hear from a fellow Jerseyan! We are from the central area of the state, on the Jersey Shore.

Don't worry too much about sharing. We ate so much while we were in WDW in November that I don't think I was hungry again until mid-December. Other people have said that the portion size has gotten smaller, but we found that between our meals and what the kids left over, we were more than content. My only problem with the Jello thing is that it really isn't an option for us. There were a couple of places that gave us grapes (which was great) but otherwise, if the kids wanted dessert, I had to give them mine.

Are you going to WDW during Jersey Week? We'll be there, too.

Good question. Hopefully by October, things will change for the better. Variety and choices are the key here. :goodvibes
