construction on castaway cay

when i was on cc this past january, i noticed a few construction vehicles when i got off the ship. does anyone know if they are adding more things to the island

I believe the equipment was for reconstruction of areas around the dock that were damaged by the fall hurricanes.

No new construction. Its for the hurricane clean up and work.

They still have alot of work to do dredging. The family beach is much shallower than it use to be too.

When we were there in September, right after the hurricanes, they had indicated that they were planning on doing some dredging prior to the hurricanes and already had equipment on the island. That was part of the reason that they got the ships back there so quick. Don't know if it is true, but that was what we were told by some CM.

The had to do lots of work right around the dock. They actually ripped part of it out and totally rebuilt it. It was amazing hearing all the damage they had. Tom told us about it when he had us up on the bridge over christmas.

I know they needed the equipment to repair the damage to CC -- but I remember reading on the boards DCL was planning to expand -- with a sting ray area etc....


This summer would be a perfect time for them to work on the island - with the Magic on the West Coast from May to Sept. -- and the Wonder only docking 2 times a week.

Guess we will find out eventually

HAL has added a Stingray area at their island. I don't believe DCL has plans to do so, but some (including me) have suggested it on the boards.

No exspansion. Tom said in no way to they want to expand at this time. Some people have asked about hotels and all of that but doesnt ever see it happening. He did say in the far out future they could have more activity areas on the island like RCCL has but nothing new in the near future at least.

I read somewhere....or heard from someone...sorry, I'm having a brain freeze.. They are going to put an area in where you will be able to swim with sting rays, like you do on Grand Cayman. Don't count this info as 100% correct....but it could be a possiblity

we were there saturday and one of the cms told us that they were building some buildings to put items in(chairs, umbrellas, etc.)when hurricanes are coming in...don't know if that is true but that is what she told us...
