We are considering a 3 or 4 day stay sometime in the fall at Vero Beach. When it comes to Disney/WDW, we usually stay at a moderate level resort. One time we stayed at SSR w/ friends who were DVC owners.

Background, my DH and I will have a 1 yr old by the fall. We live in S. Florida, so the beach is nice, but won't be all that 'amazing' to us since we live down here. How is the resort itself? Activities etc? Do all the rooms have some sort of kitchenette where you can cook? Are we better off waiting a couple more years to go when DD is a bit older?

We would consider renting points or maybe taking advantage of any FL resident deals that might be available at the time. Just curious to hear about the resort and see pics if you have any.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
We love VB. This is resort is pretty peaceful. THey do have children's activities, but your child is pretty young so probably just hanging on the beach and playing in the sand or at the pool is the way to go for you.
There are Inn rooms which are like hotel rooms but do have a little microwave and dorm size frig. Then, the buildings surrounding the main Inn contain studios, 1 & 2 bedroom villas. The latter two have full kitchens. There are also 5 three bedroom beach cottages. This resort is very quiet after 8-9 pm. We love to stay here for R&R after a WDW vacation. I also have relatives nearby so it's a great place to stay when we're visiting them.

We were there in October, and I don't think we will ever go back. To get to the beach, you have to slide down a 6 foot cliff because they can't do any construction there; it's a sea turtle area. I wasn't even sure how to get back to the resort other than climb back up the cliff.

Other than that, the pool is very nice, and the whole area is very relaxing. However, there isn't much to do in the Vero area. A lot of the shopping areas were half full, the attractions were only open part time, and it seemed like they never fully recovered from the 4 hurricane year they had a while ago.

If you just want to sit around a pool, or use the onsite activities, you will be fine.

They have rebuilt the beach. It still isn't flat, but no long drop like you mention at the resort entrance.

We had our first visit checking in Christmas Day and out New Years Day. We were very impressed with the staff. All were very kind to our specials needs son. We attended a lot of the activities and the kids enjoyed them. My son had never been to a New Years Eve party, so he had a great time with Goofy and Chip & Dale.
