Considering Purchasing SSR

Which is fine I would suspect 98% of DVC purchases were made prior to ever staying there and probably 75% of them without ever having been to the resort.

The good thing is that SSR is also the most suggested sleep around contract to purchase and use elsewhere. So you really can't go wrong.

What resort does he like? Also when do you normally visit is it during spring break time?

My husband likes Bay Lake Tower more but if we do that option we would have to wait longer, a year or 2 to save more money. Bay lake is nice, cannot beat the location, but I do not like the pools as much and it is exp. Thanksgiving is our fav time now... we done different times and thanksgiving is the perfect for time for us (we hate heat and love the holiday decor). I am a SS teacher so we are stuck to holidays. He also likes Grand California also in Disneyland but we both laughed at the price.....

remember to buy where you want to stay yes SSR has the the lowest rate but with a small contact AKV for example is maybe 2 dollars a point difference on 60 points that 120 dollars more . Also you want more points then you need small contacts cost more and if you have add-on-itis your gonna pay more in the long run. Also get what you can afford with out financing them the biggest savings of all Good Luck

We looked a AKV, I like it but we want one place we do not need to take a bus too. I would not mind trying to go there at the 7months mark at some point though. SSR we like the idea of walking to Disney springs, we loove the food there.

For everyone talking about financing, my husband wants to fully pay it off and so no loan for us, so that is why we like small contract too.

I usually amend this to: "Don't buy where you wouldn't be happy staying." I might have some modest preferences for some resorts over others, but I've enjoyed stays at each of the DVC resorts I've tried.

This can be a difficult time to book studios at 7 months (i.e. at a resort you do not own). So you would want to be comfortable with the idea that buying SSR means most Thanksgiving trips would be to that resort.

So.. here's a reason I went AKV over SSR, aside from the fact that AKV is where I'd love staying at every time, I still love SSR. Both are reasonably easier to get at 7 months which drives the cost per pt down making both great values, imo. AKV is a tad more expensive per point and annual dues are higher, sure. But with AKV, I get a shot at the value studios, which point-wise, can be a 2nd trip for us if we wanted. You do have to book at 11 months, and it's far from a guarantee, but it's possible, and you're looking at saving 30ish points on an 8 night stay compared to either the standard view at AKV or the standard studio at SSR. If saving points and Studios are your thing, I think that is something to account for when the price difference is fairly minimal. Obviously cant go wrong with either though.
