Considering offsite - couple of questions

I am taking a solo trip later this year and am trying to decide which hotel to stay at. I was going to stay at POP but I think it is expensive for what it is and with the ability to get the FP at 60 days at the offsite, they are sounding better. I will be staying 2 nights at AKL which is why I am trying to save on the rest of the nights.
It will just be me but I would like somewhere with a good bed, with good transportation (not driving), good food even thought I have a number of WDW restaurants I am going to try, relaxing and quite. Also a place with a bar for adult drinks would be a plus. I read someone's post on Best Western and it sounded good. I am hoping to find something with easy and quick transportation to the parks. Close to Disney Springs (with transportation there) where I can catch the bus to the parks would be ok too. I plan on going to AK during the time I am at AKL.

Any suggustions?

Thank you in advance!

...with good transportation (not driving),...

..and there's the red flag. With the exception of the Disney Springs hotels, do not stay offsite if you don't have a car. Uber/Lyft may work, but do not rely on hotel shuttles to the park. Schedules are very limited and not especially reliable. If you must rely on hotel shuttles, make sure you have the Uber/Lyft apps on your phone in case you don't make the bus back or it doesn't show up. I strongly recommend renting a car.

Disney Springs (Hotel Plaza Blvd) hotels are okay because they have a reliable bus system to and from the parks.

There are hundreds and hundreds of choices...we haven't come across a bad place yet.

However, you're not driving? I'd suggest staying on site.

For 60 day FP+ "offsite" your only choice is Disney Springs. Those are the only resorts that are getting that perk along with EMH this year.

Disney Springs hotels have a very good shuttle service and the only hotels I would consider without a car unless I was willing to pay uber/lyft.

Best Western (if you are talking Disney Springs) has been sold to Drury and will begin a full renovation. Right now it's very worn down.

All Disney Springs hotels are walking distance to Disney Springs where there are LOTS of very nice bars. One resort that seem to have a nice spot for that is B Resort. We really enjoy it there and found beds very comfortable.

Have you looked into the Disney Springs area hotels? I think that they are probably as good as you are going to get staying offsite without a car: http://disneyspringshotels.com/

thanks everyone.

I was thinking of Disney Springs hotels since htey seemed very close. Thanks for the info on Best Western.
So these hotels have all the perks of staying on site except for the magic bands - correct? I haven't been since 2004 so I am trying to wrap my head around all the changes.
Thanks again!

No MagicBands but your plastic ticket will function the same as a MB for park entry and FP lines. If you purchase through a 3rd Party ticket Seller, an eticket can be converted to a plastic ticket at a Ticket Window.

You can also purchase MBs and link them to everyone in your MDX account; you won’t need plastic tickets if you have MBs linked up.

No. Just the 60 FP+ and EMH as I said ... and that is for 2018 so far (new).

You will not have Magical Express when you arrive/or/leave from here.

Your AKL time will get one way so at least you'd only need a taxi/uber/lyft one way.

For the price of 2 nites @ AKL, is it possible that you can downgrade your hotel and have your entire stay on-site and avoid all of the inconveniences of staying off-site for a few days? This way you can do Magic Express to and from airport. Use all of Disney transportation. Have all the EMH's, have FP and Magic Bands. Just a thought......

I could but I love the AKL and want to spend time there so not sure that I want to. I am just looking at offsite so the vacaton cost isn't as high as I want to do a couple of pricey things at WDW. But thanks for the suggustion.

So glad to hear that. I stayed there in fall 2016 and in my opinion, it looked like the room was decades overdue for a renovation. If they do a good job renovating it, it could be a nice place.
