Considering getting the twins 1st haircut at MK barber shop *multi choice poll*

Should we get our curly haired twin girls' 1st haircut at the MK barber shop?

  • YES! We did it and it was truly magical & even more special!

  • NO! Don't let them touch your kids hair - especially if it is a 1st hair cut!

  • Go first thing upon entering the MK

  • Eeehhh. . . it can wait until afternoon or evening

We are going in Jan. and my DD will be 3 1/2 . She has never had her hair cut except for me trimming her bangs. Will she still be eligable for all the fun stuff and a " first haircut" or is it mostly for yonger kids?

Since reading this thread, I thought maybe about getting DS's 1st haircut there when we go in 2 weeks. He will only be 10 months old but his hair is already in his eyes. Do you guys think it is too early to have it cut? :confused3 I always heard that you are supposed to wait until his 1st birthday or after.

Hi there,
I had both of my kids 1st haircuts done in WDW and just love the fact that I did it that way. :goodvibes I have never come across anyone else who had their kids hair done there and it really was a unique experience. The pictures are fantastic and the 'barbers' were wonderful. One cut my child's hair while the other blew bubbles as a distraction. I have curly hair too and I know what you all mean about it being hard to cut.

That being said, my 2 cents is that even if the haircut isn't 'to die for' it will grow back. The important thing is that the 1st haircut was in Disney. If you are really worried about the curls just ask for a short trim. You still will get the pictures, the hat and bragging rights :thumbsup2

PS, my DS had his 1st cut at his 10 month visit and DD had hers at a visit when she was almost 2.

I've only see them do the ears and certificates for kids who it was clear had never had their hair cut before at all. But you can certainly get it cut and get some pixie dust!

Both DS's received haircuts by Michael & it was great.

As a curly girl myself you need to know that cutting 1/2 inch off curly hair can make it shrink 3 inches & turn loose curls into tight ones. It's all about the "weight" of the hair.

Start off only having her ends skimmed to see how the hair reacts.
I'm glad you said this. I was thinking this, but didn't know if it was real or my imagination. :) Here's a pic of how curly their hair is. . .

I hit submit when I meant to hit the preview button. Their hair is getting long and bushy so some of it needs to come off in the back. They are identical twins, but Lydia's curls are tighter than Madeline's. Madeline's are just a bit looser, but then again she has less hair than Lydia. Lydia's hair is in ringlets! I love their hair. I think it is gorgeous, and they get lots of compliments on their curls! But their hair has grown alot lately and the back really needs to be tamed. Another thing is that I'm not planning on cutting any bangs on them. I twist their top hair and put in the bow clip like in their pic.

Yes, they will do the 1st hair cut for older kids. DS was 4 (and never had a hair cut!) when we were there. Didn't know if they would believe us or not. The front of his hair has still never been cut. It grows on the top, sides, and back.

Go 1st thing in the morning. Line backs up quickly.

My dd got her first haircut last year on "Main Street" (actually OFF Main Street) when she was a little over 2.

I'll just say I would do it again in a heartbeat. Very memorable. And she has lots of curly hair.

I think $14 is a great price with all things considered! How late is the barber shop open? Does it keep the same hours as the park for the day?

From AllEarsNet.com :

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. No appointments -- walk-ins only.

Cost for a haircut is $17 for adults and $14 for children 12 and under. Colored hair gel, $5.

We have my sons cut there every trip. Granted he is 9 but this last trip there was a baby there getting his irst haircut and they made the biggest deal with pictures and certificates. They covered him in stickers to keep him entertaines. It was one of the highlights of the trip and we didn't even know the people getting it done. I would so go for it !!

Definitely do it...we took our daughter for her first birthday to have it done even though she really didn't need a hair cut. But it was so cute...and it was all for $14 including the ears which is a great deal.
