My family is considering a DVC purchase. Fisrt question is what is the real difference between Standard & Preferred view at BWV?

Second - We really have not confirmed which of the 4 WDW choices we want to make our home resort yet. However if we choose to stay at a WDW resort (BWV, WLV, OKW, BCV) that isnt our home resort by booking at the 7 month window, is there one, two, etc that are harder to get than other? In short, when a resort becomes available to everyone at 7 months, which books up the quickest. THANKS - (tried hard to think of shorter way to ask question)

We have had on and off luck booking at resorts other than our home resort. In past years when we wanted to use OKW points at BW we were able to without trouble, and usually without having to wait list. This year it was different, and the room we have wait listed for has not become available. It may be that in the past we have usually booked studios and this time we were looking for a 2 bedroom, dont' know for sure.

Also, unless something has changed I believe the only way to buy points with BW or OKW as your home resort is by purchasing a resale contract, not available directly from Disney. WL may still be, and I know BC is. I did get notified that prices were going up December 1, so if you plan to buy direct you may want to confirm if that is the case, and buy before if possible.

what is the real difference between Standard & Preferred view at BWV?

The standard view rooms face the front entrance driveway & parking lot & the tennis courts. Preferred view is everything else - Boardwalk, both pools, Swan/Dolphin. I own at BWV and book standard view to save points. Last year we were on the corner over the fountain across from the parking lot, we could see the high fireworks from Illuminations. I didn't think it was a bad view.

Something to keep in mind....there aren't many Standard View rooms at BWVs, and if you want to stay in one you pretty much need to book it at the 11 month window. So if that is factoring into how many points you buy and where, you need to know that.

I like the std view at BWVs and as it has already been said, you probably will not get std view at BWV unless it is your home resort. I usually book right at the 11 month window. You are looking at the main entrance and you do see some of the high fireworks from Illuminations, which my little ones really enjoy. I really didn't stay out on the balcony for any period of time, which is why I go with std for the pts savings. The one time I had a preferred view, all I could see was this big tree. I had to hold my head at a certain angle to look past the tree to see a small sliver of the pool. After that, my first and only experience in a preferred, I vowed that I wouldn't waste the pts. I haven't dealt with what is available at the 7 month window, but I might be in that boat next yr, but I am fairly confident that I will get something at WDW, I think that I will be able to at least get OKW. The rooms are bigger and it is a very relaxed atmosphere, but with 2 kids and 2 strollers, we like the convenience of BWV.

Tough decisions...;)

OKW is reported to be the easiest resort to book at the 7 month window (it's a lot larger than the other resorts).

This past year, BWV has probably been the most difficult to book. IMHO, that is because the rehab work is taking several rooms out of service. The rehab is expected to continue into 2003.

Buy where you want to stay the most. That way, even if you are unable to change to another resort at 7 months, you will still be a happy camper.

Good luck with your decision.

Both my main contracts are at BWV, and I find it hardest to stay there, partly because it's sold out now, and partly because many of the people from other resorts choose to stay there. I usually stay in preferred view rooms, overlooking the boardwalk, which is wonderful! However, it probably isn't where you would want to stay if you have small children. It canbe noisy in the boardwalk rooms between 9-11 pm, but those are the most desirable rooms. I also love pool view, but I always stay on the first or fifth floor, due to the problem with foliage. I expect to see the view I am paying for,
