I've plugged my spreadsheet at point levels of the 2010 to determine the purchase price and additional dues through 2057 in addition to renting at $11/point if just pulling out a conservative rental price. When comparing the price, there is about a 37% savings.

Am I missing something obvious in my assessment?

from DVC or Timeshare Store?

DVC direct. I'd be taking advantage of the $97/point and getting 2008/2009 points to begin that weren't even factored into the equation as being "free" and comparing to renting from existing DVC members at a very conservative price over the same period.

lowest price on TSS:

AK220-12-1116 Animal Kingdom-$80/pt. December 220 $17,600.00
Notes: 194 points currently available and 220 points coming on 12/1/10. No annual dues until 2010. Priced at $80 per point

To compare apples to apples, you'd need to also consider that I would get 220 points for 2008 and 2009 through DVC vs. this deal which would be 246 total points less. It might only be slightly more appealing than the DVC offer.

were you offered the $97.00 a point or 8 free annual passes?

Do not forget to do an amorization table that includes what you could have made with the money you paid for the points, I use an average safe historical treasury 10 year rate of 3-4%. When you do this.

IF you have a little patiance you can get the same banked. currnet points resale for $80 or less resale. When you figure the cost per UY point it will likely save you 20% of the per year point cost (of course maintinance is the biggest part)
