How cute!!!

Goodness, y'all have been chatty today - in response to what has been posted - bravo! I too spent the 8 Clinton years not watching the news and listening avidly to Rush - boy, I can crush in Trivial Pursuit, the 90s edition - Rush's show offers quite the education in current events. I predict I will be spending the next 4 doing the same....

Welcome to the con thread ... to give a little background...there have been posters who have been rather incendiary in their debates even in a personal nature. Those posters get reported to the point that they are banned from the DIS. Sometimes, they get a new IP address and come back for more. They pop into the con thread as a brand new poster and start the debating again. For all intents and purposes, you fit that bill - apologies for what must have appeared to be a knee-jerk defensiveness. It comes from having to be 'on guard', I hate to say.

Again, had no idea that debates didn't take place here; apologies, once more...

oh and thanks for praying for my friend whose father died....

the funeral was lovely....

a little funny story and has this ever happened to y'all?

the funeral was in a town an hour outside Memphis - I don't know my way around there. After the funeral, people were milling around and I was waiting to go to the graveside service. This wasn't announced officially nor was there a program but I just figured there would be one since there was one for his mom a few years ago. I really had to go to the bathroom so I popped in quickly, came out and no one was in the building! It was really strange. I went outside - there were people outside but I didn't see a hearse or a line for the processional. I figured that, after I got my car, I would drive around the building and find everyone. So I did but I didn't - I drove around but didn't find anyone - no one, no one standing around, no hearse - as if it didn't happen. Really strange...

I know I was at the right place because I recognized names and such. But to have everyone disappear like that ... whoa! Anyway, because I didn't know where the graveside service would be held, I went back to Memphis. I regret not getting to talk to the family - I'll send them a note.

And Deb - that's crazy about the school. How scary is that!

And yay for Soarin' --    I am a little disappointed that you weren't staying up just to talk to us ;) . Sounds like a wonderful guy, does he have an uncle or two?

T&G - I've been craving pizza for days now, and that looks amazing! <insert drooling smilie here>

mk - In all honesty I'm not the one to help you unfortunately. Confession time, I only cook a few meals a week and the rest of the days it's either leftovers or sammies. I only know how to cook in large quantities. Weird huh? :confused3

That's what's hard. Most of my friends at Church have large families too, so they're used to cooking for large groups. Cooking for 2 is hard if you don't want a lot of leftovers. I get by in the kitchen and DH doesn't complain, but I would like to branch out a bit. It's grilled steak, chicken or fish most nights, maybe stir fry shrimp and veggies, and I make frozen ravioli when I need something quick.

Cooking for one/two people isn't all that fun...maybe a chicken in the crock pot then add different stuff to it through the week, such as rice one day, dumplings another, then turn the rest of the chicken [when you don't have enough meat for two people] into a pot pie with refrigerated pie dough, frozen veggies and chicken broth.

Or pasta - you can start with a tomato or cheese base and add different things through the week - meatballs, sautéed veggies, that chicken from the crock pot.

Or pizza - that's really great for two. Make pizza dough, split it in two and make personal sizes...not like the above but still yummy [just don't think, 'hey this could've been a Chicago deep pan pizza!'].

Goodness, those are probably really lame suggestions - there are a lot of folks here who could do much better.

'Nite all - my computer's moving slow as molassas which usually means DH needs to work his magic on it. That always takes some time, so I'll probably catch y'all in the morning.

No more talk of food! I'm very hungry as it is and all this talk of food...man.

I haven't caught up yet, but thought I'd pop in. :goodvibes I have been busy with DD's first b-day party stuff! :yay: I'm having a Disney Princess party for her. princess: My mom is going to do a Cinderella's Castle cake.( She took some cake decorating classes and is awesome at it) I'll have to post pics of it.

Oh - And I'm trying to learn some Photoshop, too. :badpc:

I have to check out Soarins updated TR as well. :surfweb:

Debbie- sorry about your friends dad  .

mkingdomlvr- I feel ya. I like allrecipes.com for ideas. Before I go food shopping: say that I will get chicken breasts, then I go on allrecipes and look for new chicken recipes. If I see one I like, and I know I don't stock a certain ingedient, I can put it on my list. I have to do it this way or my ditz brain runs amuck in the food store. :rolleyes1
ITA it is hard to cook for two (well, and a quarter ;) ). I usually always end up cooking for an army. :confused3

The dogs like the leftovers that weren't eaten though! They're like - Yay!!!! :woohoo: Shhhhh-Don't tell the 'advocates of not giving your dogs table food' though. ;)

:)

:wave2: Hey Soarin!! Do you have any idea where your working yet for CP?

By the way, this food talk is making me drool. I have not been able to cook for the longest time.......though that pizza does look so deliciously fattening.

What a beautiful family!!
:thumbsup2

Gee, what's the probability we'd both be doing Disney birthday parties? :rotfl2:
I need to order the stuff but that will have to wait til DH's next payday, if I can talk him into spending $55 on birthday party supplies. :rolleyes1

I feel strange lusting after a cake I heard about from a baby's b-day party, but who cares! I'm obsessed with a park run by a cartoon mouse, for heaven's sake!
