I missed the first 20 minutes of Superstars of Dance. I was overall *not* impressed with most. The US duet was fantastic-if you were looking for arial tricks. There wasn't much "dance" to it. The Shaolin warriors were cool-but not dancers. The only acts that was truly dance and that I really enjoyed were the Argentinian Tango (that was hot!) and the Australian tap dancer, and the Irish step dancer. Tap is my first love. That Aussie guy was phenomenal.

But then again I'm a trained dancer so I see things with a different eye than the average viewer. I don't care much for contemporary dance, so that Russian soloist was nothing spectacular for me. I don't know, I guess growing up in a competetive dance world, it takes alot to impress me, and I've seen better dancers in pretty much all of the genres represented there last night. Even the asian dancers....Dallas has a huge Asian festival every year, and they feature local dancers. Most of them are better than the Chinese ribbon dancer and the Indian Bollywood dancers they featured.

I am looking forward to seeing the Russian Kosak dancers though. That is HARD HARD HARD.

On another note, I haven't been around much due to being sicker than a dog the last week or so. Instead of doing things I NEED to be doing around the house, I camped out on the couch sewing most of the weekend. I started working on something that will go on my living room wall one of these days...

*sigh* ok back to work I go....

but it looks like Franken (barf...) is in.

How does something like this happen?

Easy. When you lose, you demand recount after recount after recount. You mysteriously find boxes of ballots that oddly favor only the Dem candidate behind washing machines, in storm drains, in birds nests, etc, until you get the result you want, knowing that your opponent has too much integrity to pull the same stunt.

What is really sad is that the libs here are smart enough to know that what Franken is doing is wrong, but condone it because it's all about their party gaining more power. Isn't it funny that it's always the Dem candidate wanting a recount? I hope I never see a candidate I support doing this.

I say you allow one recount, of all the votes previously counted (no mysterious votes showing up after the election), and accept the result.

Well it looks like the "Planet Healer" efforts to "reboot" our image in other nations may be off to a rocky start before its even started. In Jakarta, he's already being blamed in the all-important "Muslim street" for the IDF offensive against Hamas:

Looks like the Left's conventional wisdom that Bush is the real problem might be taking on some water. In case you don't recognize them, that's Egyptian President Mubarak and Israeli PM Olmert that O's palling around with. I also agree with Powerline, that the inclusion of the cigarette is a nice touch!
LOL.
probably because israel is oficially the "state of israel" and was united nations-given. it is the nation state for jews. in the hebrew bible the "land of israel" was God given. arab neighbors, based on boundary, religion, and the mere right for the state of israel to exist, has been the cause of dispute and wars ever since partition. because it was palestine which was divided in order to create the region known as the state of israel (later the country), they are particularly unhappy about the situation. that and that israel has tested and moved the boundaries along with declaring their independence, continues to cause conflict.
I agree and I honestly think that if Israel didn't exist, there would still be fighting over there. There's been fighting over there for thousands and thousands of years.

To me, from what I've read, the arab neighbors refuse to even let Israel exist. They don't just want "back" what they consider theirs (land), they want to wipe Israel off the face of the map.
The Holy Land was inhabited by Jews and Christians long before the muslims invaded. They can't consider it as belonging to them because they weren't originally there (that would be the Canaanites, who were not muslim). :confused3 It's not their homeland. If they feel they have the right to be there, why not peacefully cohabitate?
Again, I agree and I think that no matter what, there would be fighting over there. Hatred has run through generation after generation after generation. There's been fighting over there since before Biblical times - Israel is just a small part of it.

Now, I feel like I only talk about politics here. I'm fun, I really am. Is anyone excited for Lost to come back?
Me me me!!!

well God didn't give israel an actual country, but the UN did and it was quite recent; 1948 i think. (not offensive at all...i was brought up in the episcopal church and understand religion and find it fascinating, it just didn't stick in the spiritual sense.) but this would be like any other land or country in any part of the world which evolved well past its origins thousands of years ago. otherwise england might still be part of the holy roman empire. i was just answering why some people are so opposed to israel defending itself. it is religious and geographical and historical, and israel is seen by some as a bit pushy for not finding the area appropriated to them for their national state as sufficient. and then there are those who'd like to blow them right off the globe.

the gaza strip was under a sort of general administration for five years, ending in 1999, and during that five year period the ownership of the strip was to be determined, but it never was (duh...how ridiculous that in five years this was to be accomplished after thousands of years of war between arabs and jews.)

by the looks of it, hamas, which now controls most of that tiny little gaza strip (except for air space and waters at the coast still managed by israel) launched...what....90 missiles into israel on 12/25? first of all, i don't think the date was an accident. second...90 missiles? and they're gonna just sit back and have a snack? i think not. especially since they controlled all of gaza through 2005, and it was only in 2007 that hamas took control.

this is gonna go on forever. and now we will have a president who, allegedly (as seen in photos), has no problem with the PLO. also because of this i do not find the timing accidental. joe biden said bho would be tested, and i think this is part of the test.
Yup.
yup. and therein lies the reason bho will/must only last four years. iran, a nuclear country, feeds hamas. with zero experience managing anything, bho is likely to crumble under the pressure of trying to please everybody, and we're gonna need somebody with strong military experience in office to make up for bho's ineptitude. i never thought i'd say this in a million years, but thank goodness hillary has some knowledge of foreign affairs.

we need to promote a conservative congress next time 'round to help rectify the mistake made in november.
Yup.
I don't agree that war is never an answer. The Bible doesn't even say so (Ecclesiastes, anyone? :) ).
The problem with the radicals is that even if everyone left them alone they'd still attack us and Israel.
I read a very interesting book called The Enemy At Home: The Cultural Left and It's Responsibility for 9/11. Anyone else ever read it? In the words of Mr. Spock: Fascinating. The author talks about why the radical muslims hate America and he says it's nothing to do with our freedom or democracy.
I would LOVE to know more about this. Wonder if I could find it at the library. Care to give a synopsis?

Verse 3

The driver of the bus says 'mow them down!' 'mow them down!' 'mow them down!'

The driver of the bus says 'mow them down!' 'mow them down!' 'mow them down!'

Before the in-auguration...

hmmm...gotta think of some verses featuring key players....

Okay, how 'bout this?

Verse 4

Jeremiah Wright yells, 'bleep that bus,' 'bleep that bus,' 'bleep that bus,'

Jeremiah Wright yells, 'bleep that bus,' 'bleep that bus,' 'bleep that bus,'

O says Jeremiah who?
Oh my gosh, this is hilarious. How did I miss the first two verses?

Okay, I was in the check out aisle at the grocery store today and thought of all of you when I saw the tabloids today.

From the Globe: Obama wasn't born in the US and Inaugeration isn't legal.

No.....say it ain't so. LOL! Just thought that was pretty funny. I almost bought it - I've never bought a tabloid. LOL!

Was it from Men in Black where Tommy Lee Jones' character says to Will Smith that they get all of the real news from the tabloids? Too funny.

Michigan is a sheet of ice this morning. I was surprised the kids had school today.

:lmao: We went to see a comedian at the casino last spring (can't for the life of me remember which one...might have been the guy who opened for Ron White) and he said that he was freezing to death up here, having come up from SoCal. He said this is the difference between SoCal and Washington:

Washingtonian: "It's 65* outside! Break out the frisbee! Honey, have you seen my shorts?"

SoCalifornian: "OMG, it's 65*! Somebody light the fireplace! Honey, have you seen my parka?"

Ayup. That's about the size of it. :lmao:

This is so true. We were at EPCOT one year in December. Having come from Cleveland which was bitter cold at the time, the 60 degrees of sunny Florida felt very nice. As we walked along in T-shirts and shorts, we overheard two little old ladies who were bundled up like it was the arctic say to each other "Oh my gosh....just look at them! They MUST be Canadian!"

:rotfl:

About the only thing that is clear is that no one group holds a "clear title" to the property we call "Israel" today. While "Israel" may be a UN invention, modern "Palestine" was a post-WWI invention made by the British.

I heard a report on the BBC this morning were the presenter interviewed a Hamas spokesman about the IDF invasion and it was pretty telling. On the issue of a cease fire, the presenter asked "If Israel pulls back their troops from Gaza and opens the check-points, would Hamas promise to halt the rocket/mortar fire into Isreal?" The Hamas spokesman said "No, they would also have to end the occupation of 'Palestinian lands' in addition." Hamas effectively defines "Palestinian lands" to be all of Israel. Until then, he said "the resistance will continue." When the Hamas dude complained about the supposed violations of the Geneva Convention on the part of the IDF (mostly related to civilian casualties), the BBC presenter asked about Hamas' indiscriminate firing of rockets and mortars at Israeli civilians. The Hamas spokesman said that such people are part of the "occupation of 'Palestinian lands'" and as such were no different than members of the IDF and Hamas considers their targeting to be consistent with the Convention. Unfortunately, the subject of other seeming violations on the part of Hamas such as using Mosques, schools, refugee camps, etc. as rocket/mortar launching points and weapons caches wasn't addressed.

P.J. O'Rourke referred to the Middle-East as "God's Monkey House" in his classic book "Holidays in Hell" due to the fact that all logic must be checked at the door when entering. Hamas continues to prove this point with flying colors.

How does something like this happen?
I hate to say "Toldjaso", but as I commented right after the November election Coleman's effort was doomed from the start. NOBODY, and I mean, NOBODY is as good at "finding" new votes as the Democrats. When I saw that Coleman's initial lead was less than 1,000 votes I knew that wasn't enough to hold back the wave of new Franken votes that would be unearthed.

It's this stuff and hearing about the environmental idiots that want the gov to tax us on gas since gas is now "too low" that make me just go :sad2: . Have there been discussions about the environmental idiots? They want us all paying $5.00/gallon. Never mind how that's going to continue to tank the economy as it's already been proven that no one can afford gas that high and we still have to commute to work somehow! Oh, and most cities don't have good public transportation - there aren't a lot of options for most people to get to work by. I know there are idiots on the right but I'm beginning to see that there are a lot more on the left - they don't think things through.

Sorry you haven't been feeling well. I love this cross-stitch piece! I think it would look great as the centerpiece of a wall quilt. I have so many cross-stitch pieces hanging on my walls, mainly Christmas themed, and I have decided that I am going to take them out of the frames and incorporate them into quilt wall hangings. I'm starting out with a Halloween cross-stich that I just finished, and have all the pieces cut, so we'll see how it goes.

Never mind that the gas tax will hit the poor and working class the hardest-just the people that the Left is always saying they care so much about.

I agree! We had just moved to Kissimmee in September 2006, and I started working in a local ER a few weeks later. Sometime in November the temps dropped to around 50ish during the day, and some of the nurses were coming in to work with parkas on! It was hysterical!:rotfl2: Of course, after living there for a year and then coming back to NJ, my hubby whines constantly about how "cold" it is here. I don't even think we've dropped below 32 yet this winter. DH is down south alot since it is part of his territory, but this is a guy who never wore a coat in the winter while driving, and now he bundles up if it's in the 40s!

This must sting like heck for the Left who so desperately desire to be liked by all other nations.

"But...but... The world is supposed to like us now!" :rotfl2:

No, it's January 20th when they'll like us. January 20th. We'll still be hated until then and then the skies will open up, global warming will stop, gas prices will drop even further, people will all become rich and other countries will love us. They'll really love us.

Or not.

They'll just say it's because he can't do anything yet since President Bush is still in office. Those people have an answer and an excuse for everything. It'll be interesting to see how they spin it a year from now when things are the same if not worse over there.

It will ALWAYS be Bush's fault, dontcha know that by now? Even in a year from now, when the country's a mess, terrorists are knocking at our door and things are worse than they've ever been...it will STILL be Bush's fault because how on EARTH do you expect the Messiah to fix Bush's mess? (even though that's what he campaigned on)

LOL!!!! Welcome to the thread (if I haven't welcomed you before).

My house is a mess - that's Bush's fault too. I can't wait until Obama is president - then I'll have a clean and orderly house. Life will be perfect and WDW will be free.

Geesh....Is that what it's all about? The libs want to be the "popular" kids of the world?

(you'll have to imagine the German psychologist accent)
