Well fellow DisCons, I am on my way home. Actually, I'm not sad, since in 3 weeks I'll be back for a good long time.I can't wait to see all of you at WDW in the upcoming months- isn't one of our Debbies going next month?
Anyway, I'll get all of you guys a trip report ready ASAP.
MEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEME
You're already on your way back?!?!? Is the brother with you? or did you dump his tortured body somewhere? it's okay - you can tell us
looks like it's gonna be debbie season at the world!![]()
and Debbie #4 will be working there, too! Debs #3 and 5 - how 'bout if we work out a Disney/Deb promotion, just for us! Like the birthday thing going on in '09?And, Deb #1 - just leave that new job behind a couple of days to join us....
I normally keep quiet about these thigns because talking to trolls is like feeding strays, they don't go away, but I am so sick of this. What do you "lurkers" really think will happen when you post on our thread? That we'll all see the error of our beliefs and turn into Obama drones, like the rest of you? Really? I doubt that, so there is only one reason you'd come here; to start trouble.
This is not a debate thread. This is a place for conservatives to come and talk to other conservatives. You aren't conservative. You have nothing to add to this conversation. Are you so attention starved that you can't stop yourselves from coming over here and starting trouble? If you want to debate, start a debate thread. If you want to drool over Obama, you have your very own thread where you can do that. I can't speak for everyone here, but I have never even looked at that thread. I have no reason to. I'm not liberal so I don't post there. I don't even read it. I wish you'd all treat our thread the same way I treat yours. With respect. But I won't hold my breath.
Now, please, can we conservatives go back to our conversation without the liberal commentary?
Oh good! I'll be there through Feb. 10![]()
B-b-b-but you two CAN'T have any fun without me, can you?!?!?!?
I'm making a resolution to gain 5 pounds this year and clean the house less. Those are resolutions I know I can keep.![]()
![]()
I gave up dusting one year for Lent....and last year I resolved not to make any resolutions so I didn't [thereby breaking my resolution - just like every year!]I've said it before. Scratch a lefty, and you'll find an incredibly unhappy, bitter person just below the surface. And like all unhappy people, they want to take as many others as possible along for the ride. It's killing them that many Conservatives are looking at the triumvirate of Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi with a certain glee. Imagine how bad the three of them will govern, and then multiply it by 10 and they'll have no one to blame but themselves. I think this is finally getting through to a few of the liberals, and they're just plain scared. As someone else said, Obama is the first president to have been interviewed by the FBI for corruption before being inaugurated. It can only do downhill from there.
And have you ever seen the likes of Patrick Fitzgerald and the MSM bend over backwards to proclaim his innocence??!!??!
After the way my mother was treated by this organization several years ago I lost much respect for them, and I lost a little more today with this:
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser...pulled_because_of_his_mormon_faith_104361.asp
Long story short, my mother finally got up the courage to leave my father after a 25 year marriage that was both physically and emotionally/verbally abusive. He always worked and she was basically a SAHM through the majority of the marriage, so she was financially dependent upon him for everything. When they divorced she was awarded that he pay for an attorney for her, but that never happened and she went through the divorce without one. Aside from getting full custody of my younger brothers (which he didn't want) she got nothing but her clothes and personal belongings. He got the house, cars, everything. My older brother moved her to Colorado near him, prepaid a year of rent in an apartment for her, and helped her get on her feet. She applied for a job at FOTF, and was offered the job, until they discovered she had been divorced, and rescinded the job offer.
Now they pull Glenn's interview/article about his book off their website just because he is a Mormon...never mind the fact that the interview never even brings up his religion, nor does the book, but instead the things of faith he speaks of are mainstream Christian values, fully in alignment with pretty much any Christian's beliefs.
Sad that they are being so closed-minded to try and turn people away from a story of faith and hope and belief in God at this time of year, and at a time when people around the country could really use it.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother's experiences with FOTF - I've always respected that organization. From what I hear [through others who have worked there recently], this stipulation about divorce has been relaxed.
About the GB article, apparently the link was taken down because of the confusion in that FOTF did not say he was a Mormon. It is a shame, too - whatever our theological differences, we do need to band together on those issues we do agree on. For instance, it was the Catholic church that stood almost singly against abortion in the 70s with the Protestant/Evangelicals slowly joining them later. Now I do see, at least in our city, a greater unity between Catholics and Protestants in this issue but who knows what could have been accomplished early on if we had pushed our theology aside to fight for unborn babies.
To the credit of FOTF, James Dobson has been very public to support the Mormon church for their Prop 8 stand and has encouraged his listeners to do the same.
Well, so far we've been able to avoid political talk...except this afternoon. My brother and I got into a 'discussion' about gun control. We were talking about the Virginia Tech shootings. My brother got mad, and went into another room, and locked the door. About 1/2 hour later, I got a message in my email with lots of links to articles to about gun control.![]()
Goodness, he must be really sensitive about this issue. And you must have had some good points - but I would have done the same thing that your brother did - I'm not a good debater so I would have had to leave the room, collect my thoughts, and do some internet searching to get my point across. Your brother and I would never make to actually speaking to one another - we'd just be volleying fiery emails across the room.
It is weird about the gun control issue - it really has little to do with guns and more to do with our worldview. I can't speak for all of us on this board - but I believe that evil exists and that people are capable of great evil and that we as a nation and in our families should have the right to protect our countrymen and families.
And, although I cannot speak for all liberals, most seem to have the worldview that leans toward the belief that evil doesn't exist and that all people are really good in their hearts, just misguided - hence, we don't have to protect ourselves but lead those poor misguided ones away from that vexing tendency to mow others down with semi-automatic weapons.
Is there something in the libs' bottled sparkling mineral water today or what???![]()
Soarin' - don't worry about them; just get cracking on that Trip Report!![]()
Yep, get crackin! -- and, Dolce, if you're lurking, I expect the same from you, young lady!
(psst....it is so weird, but in your avatar, he does look like gidget's dad! i'm whispering so nobody can hear me...AND i'm not old enough to have seen gidget except in reruns [i'm stickin' to that].)
*whispering too* like you, I am way too young to remember exactly who Don Porter was...
*in a normal voice* but I'm not sure he looks like Glenn Beck..the second picture, maybe...

This is the CONSERVATIVE thread. Yet they continually keep coming over here to try and start trouble.
That's the last time I go to WDW with my parents and siblings!!
I have a Baptist church right near me who has every ministry you could imagine (a pregnancy clinic, an outreach for the impoverished and homeless, a rich missions program, etc). I wouldn't abandon the denomination because of some bad apples. There are good churches out there, but you might have to look (unless that kind is all there is in your area, then go ahead and bolt). Unfortunately, the horrible churches are often the ones who have the biggest mouths, so they are much easier to find.
