Conservative thread: We're still smiling!

I was all about giving GWB a chance when he was first elected by the Supreme Court. The media had said he was a moderate known for bringing people together across the aisle and I was hopeful. I wish he had lived up to that reputation. I'm hoping the same for Obama, that he is able to acheive good things. Say-is that guy in your siggie the actor who played the father in The Patty Duke Show? Is he back on TV? What's his name, I forget? I always loved his smile and wink!!!

ok

Well fellow DisCons, I am on my way home. Actually, I'm not sad, since in 3 weeks I'll be back for a good long time. :teeth: I can't wait to see all of you at WDW in the upcoming months- isn't one of our Debbies going next month? :goodvibes Anyway, I'll get all of you guys a trip report ready ASAP.

Hey Soarin', can't wait to read your trip report! I'm glad you had a great time!

Now I know my name is not Debbie but it does start with a "D" :goodvibes and if you look at my siggie, you'll see that I will be back in WDW at the end of February. Woo hoo! I'd love to meet up with you.

Setting aside 9/11 (and President Bush's actions after it), the best thing I can say for President Bush is he made sure those morons (and yes they really are morons) Al Gore and John Kerry never became President. For that alone, President Bush has earned my respect in perputuity.

:thumbsup2

Yes. I finished my application a few weeks ago. Fortunately, the Honorable Ken Starr, Pepperdine's Dean of Law, is on the John Jay Institute's board of advisors.

Well that name ought to bring the liberal lurkers to drink some more! :lmao:

Good luck with your application. Pepperdine is a top notch law school.

Did you see how D.C. is allowing bars to stay open till 5am that night/morning? I will be there, sober, and clinging to my gun...

and your religion, and your money!:rotfl:

Love all the pooch pictures. We're still waiting to find out if a dog we heard about is available for adoption. I'm ready to go to the rescue shelter very soon though. I am in serious doggie withdrawl. :sad1:

I got a warning for quoting inappropriate material.   I wrote the mods and asked them what was inappropriate so it doesn't happen again, still waiting for a response. They could at least make a reference to said post so I would know. :sad2: The only reason I even knew I had a warning is because I accidently clicked on My Profile instead of Subscribed Threads. It seems like they would at least PM you so you know the warning is out there. It isn't like I sit around thinking of ways to :stir: all day long, you know, like certain libs that post on THIS thread. :sad2:

[/rant]
How do you know you got a warning? Is it in your profile? I checked my profile, but I don't see anything and I was one of the people who quoted that video, but I removed it after other people said they got a warning.

I have been cleaning like mad today and the house doesn't look any different. I tidied, dusted and vacuumed our room and scrubbed two bathrooms. Our house is so old that it doesn't look like I cleaned it at all. Very frustrating - especially in the bathrooms. I clean them every weekend and you'd never know it. I hate hard water.

Off to clean up the kitchen and livingroom. Both of those rooms look like a bomb went off in them. We have so many baked goods from Dh's patients that I don't know what to do with them. We've had some of them for a few days now - is it too late to freeze them? They are mostly cookies.

Off to switch a load of laundry and get back to cleaning up this mess. As much as I love Christmas, I hate the mess that comes with it.

So, has anyone thought about New Year's Resolutions yet? My number one: get rid of some of this clutter. My house is pretty clean most of the time, but when it comes to having things around the house that we really don't need, well, we have to work on that. I'd add "lose weight yada yada" but maybe if I don't have that as a resolution, it will actually happen. LOL!

Hey Soarin! I meant to ask you how you liked POR? Did you use the Disney transportation to and from the parks? How was everything? Details, girl!

They never gave President Bush a chance. Do not believe the Left. Everything is political to them. Everything (including the weather!) They can no more support a Conservative than they can the rights of an unborn child.......we are simply in their way.......

I plan on giving President-elect Obama a chance.....a chance to implicate himself in the Blagejovich affair for starters.......I expect more opportunites will present themselves......

Just out of curiosity, is Obama the first President-elect to be "interviewed" by the FBI for two hours as part of a criminal investigation?

If so, this would be another "First" for the only "clean" politician to come out of the state of Illinois since Abraham Lincoln......

Either way, I am enjoying watching them squirm.......

Very good points! :thumbsup2

No it isn't. Go ahead and bag them up or whatever and chuck them in the freezer. :)

I cleaned my kitchen last night, but I haven't touched the dining room and living room yet, which are consumed by the creeping toy mess. We've got sock monkeys, RC dragons, plastic toy food, Webkins, puzzles, board games...you name it, it is slowly creeping from under the tree to take over the entire house. It's terrifying. I can't face it.

I know what you mean. A Lego bomb went off in the basement. A Thomas the Train bomb went off in the living room (and those weren't even Christmas toys), a cookie/bread/fruit basket bomb went off in the kitchen and there are boots EVERYWHERE. I need a mud room.

It'll get done today. I can't stand it.

very neat. fingers crossed! have you lived in california before? (you won't be far from d'land!)

No, I have never been further west than my recent stay in Colorado. I have scheduled my pilgrimage to DL many times, but I have yet to follow through. Besides the stellar formation in jurisprudence and the conservative pedigree that come with a Pepperdine education, I am looking forward to the opportunity of living in southern California. How far is Malibu from Anaheim? Will DL be a weekend thing, or is it close enough for weeknight outings? I miss those times at UCF when I could meet friends at Epcot or the former PI just for dinner on a school night!

I normally keep quiet about these thigns because talking to trolls is like feeding strays, they don't go away, but I am so sick of this. What do you "lurkers" really think will happen when you post on our thread? That we'll all see the error of our beliefs and turn into Obama drones, like the rest of you? Really? I doubt that, so there is only one reason you'd come here; to start trouble.

This is not a debate thread. This is a place for conservatives to come and talk to other conservatives. You aren't conservative. You have nothing to add to this conversation. Are you so attention starved that you can't stop yourselves from coming over here and starting trouble? If you want to debate, start a debate thread. If you want to drool over Obama, you have your very own thread where you can do that. I can't speak for everyone here, but I have never even looked at that thread. I have no reason to. I'm not liberal so I don't post there. I don't even read it. I wish you'd all treat our thread the same way I treat yours. With respect. But I won't hold my breath.

Now, please, can we conservatives go back to our conversation without the liberal commentary?

Their posts just prove that it really doesn't matter who wins. They have a chronic condition called Bitteritis.

I have got to make sure I keep up with who's gonna be at WDW and when they'll be there! Studentmom, we loved POR! The atmosphere was about like it is back home in MS. We never used WDW transportation- it took about 5 minutes to drive to the parks.

it was probably the "dancing queen" video lots of us quoted with a :rotfl2:. i was confused too, 'cause they provided a link to the page where the video link had already been removed. they said it wasn't family friendly.

I didn't get anything. :confused3

It is under my profile. I never got an email or a PM. I just accidently clicked My Profile instead of Subscribed Threads and saw it there. :sad2:

So, has anyone thought about New Year's Resolutions yet?...

I'm making a resolution to gain 5 pounds this year and clean the house less. Those are resolutions I know I can keep. ;) :rotfl:

I've said it before. Scratch a lefty, and you'll find an incredibly unhappy, bitter person just below the surface. And like all unhappy people, they want to take as many others as possible along for the ride. It's killing them that many Conservatives are looking at the triumvirate of Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi with a certain glee. Imagine how bad the three of them will govern, and then multiply it by 10 — and they'll have no one to blame but themselves. I think this is finally getting through to a few of the liberals, and they're just plain scared. As someone else said, Obama is the first president to have been interviewed by the FBI for corruption before being inaugurated. It can only do downhill from there.

i'd guess it is about 60 miles, but that doesn't account for the weirdly traffic, so it would depend on the day and the time. if you'd be good with a 9 p.m. to midnight visit, you'd be okay, but the traffic is so very....sucky. still, it is closer than i am (i'm in northern california), and you'll likely visit much more than i can, which is a couple or three times per year. i think you'll probably qualify for a southern california pass too! (discounted)

Well it does kinda look like him but I googled him and I realize now it's not him. I was thinking of the guy who played Gidget's Dad anyway-Don Porter.
I can't paste his pic but you can look at it and see how similar they are. Who is that guy anyway? He looks like a fun guy-is that you, Soarin?

It's Glenn Beck- don't you watch TV? He's one of the liberals' worst nightmares, since he is conservative. You keep bugging us for what reason? And I'm female, FYI.

After the way my mother was treated by this organization several years ago I lost much respect for them, and I lost a little more today with this:
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser...pulled_because_of_his_mormon_faith_104361.asp

Long story short, my mother finally got up the courage to leave my father after a 25 year marriage that was both physically and emotionally/verbally abusive. He always worked and she was basically a SAHM through the majority of the marriage, so she was financially dependent upon him for everything. When they divorced she was awarded that he pay for an attorney for her, but that never happened and she went through the divorce without one. Aside from getting full custody of my younger brothers (which he didn't want) she got nothing but her clothes and personal belongings. He got the house, cars, everything. My older brother moved her to Colorado near him, prepaid a year of rent in an apartment for her, and helped her get on her feet. She applied for a job at FOTF, and was offered the job, until they discovered she had been divorced, and rescinded the job offer.

Now they pull Glenn's interview/article about his book off their website just because he is a Mormon...never mind the fact that the interview never even brings up his religion, nor does the book, but instead the things of faith he speaks of are mainstream Christian values, fully in alignment with pretty much any Christian's beliefs.

Sad that they are being so closed-minded to try and turn people away from a story of faith and hope and belief in God at this time of year, and at a time when people around the country could really use it.

Well, so far we've been able to avoid political talk...except this afternoon. My brother and I got into a 'discussion' about gun control. We were talking about the Virginia Tech shootings. My brother got mad, and went into another room, and locked the door. About 1/2 hour later, I got a message in my email with lots of links to articles to about gun control. :sad2:
