Morning! :)

My sister told me one year that today is "Christmas Adam", as in the day before "Christmas Eve"! :lmao: At first I was "Huh?", then when I got it, I was cracking up! :rotfl:

So...happy Christmas Adam everyone! :dance3:

:lmao:

Yes, so Happy Christmas Adam! I'm actually pouty today. It's supposed to snow more tonight and tomorrow. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'm going to be stuck home alone with my kids for Christmas, and not get to see my grandson Christmas Eve either. BOO HOO! GRRRRRR!

 I'm sorry you won't get to see your grandson Christmas Eve. Will you get to for Christmas?

I know. I don't need to let things get to me so much, but unfortunately I tend to do so.

That's why they take pleasure in doing it. If you reached out and were snubbed, then it speaks to their character. Just don't judge all libs by a few mean-spirited internet bullies.

No. They are spending Christmas at home. The plan was to see them Christmas Eve at my ex-MILs house, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to get there now. I'm not sure if they'll be able to get there either, but right now it looks almost impossible for me to.

OH and I meant to say: Mahnah...that is a really cool toy chest! Your hubby did a beautiful job!

I know, because not all the libs are like that. I know plenty of non-DIS ones who are great people. It just seems like a certain few of the ones here live to harass anyone who doesn't agree with them.:sad2:

Well my dad gets off work at 3:30pm and so as soon as he gets here we're leaving!! Let's just hope we have a fun, safe, and illness-free trip.:yay:

I'm sorry. Maybe something will work out so you could see him. I know my parents would much rather see their grandchildren than the grandchildren's parents! :lmao:

i am now making the sugared pecans i give to family and neighbors each year. they're delish and simple, and they work on any grooved nut (walnuts, pecans).

1 egg white
3 cups pecan halves
1 cup granulated sugar (i use superfine)
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 stick unsalted butter (i prefer salted butter)

1. preheat oven to 300.
2. in medium bowl, combine egg white with 1 tablespoon of water and whisk until foamy.
3. add pecans to egg white foam and coat thoroughly. set aside.
4. in another bowl, combine sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
5. pour sugar mixture over moist nuts and stir to coat evenly. set aside.
6. in preheated oven, melt butter in jelly roll pan (critical that the pan has sides, otherwise the butter and sugar will slide off onto the bottom of your oven. then you'll need another oven.)
7. spread nuts evenly in pan and bake for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally (i never stir occasionally...the stuff is too hard to handle...i just let it bake without ever touching it.)
8. remove from oven and allow time to cool completely in pan.

Hey Guys

Anyone read the "What do you give your Postman, etc.," thread? Almost all of the people there said they don't give the postman, newspaper delivery person, etc., ANYTHING at Christmas — and they're quite proud of that fact. I'm shocked! I thought most everyone gave such workers a little something at Christmas. Heck, I gave the homeless guy who stands at the corner with his little sign $5 today (and I usually only give him $1 or $2). It's Christmas, for heaven's sake! Where is everyone's generous spirit? Am I nuts?! Don't most people do this?

i used to leave my sugared pecans for the mailman (see recipe above!), but he just kept leaving them. i put a HUGE tag on them saying "to the postal delivery person, have a very merry christmas", but he still just left them.

maybe i should give him some glasses so he can start delivering my mail to me instead of to my neighbors.

Okay sweetheart, I officially love you. My great aunt used to send a coffee can of these every year, and I LOVED them. She passed away years ago, and nobody had the recipe. :( I'm not sure if yours is exactly the same, but I will try it! Thank you for posting it. Ummm...will you do me one more favor? Will you copy and PM it to me so I don't lose it in this avalanche of a fast moving thread? I don't have time to write it down. I just sat down to thaw out a little.

I'm trying my husband's brilliant plan. You all can laugh at me if you want, it's okay. Here's the deal; I can see my road, and it's icy but I think I could get down it if I could just get TO it. But there's something like 250 feet of 12" of snow between my car and the road. I do not have a snow shovel or a snow blower (btw...a leaf blower will not blow snow. At least, not the one we have. Yes, I tried :upsidedow ). I have a little garden shovel, which, as worthless as it is, I would try if it weren't for the fact that my kids played with it and dropped it wherever they were somewhere in the yard. Which is over 3 acres. :headache: And that was before it snowed...so we'll see the shovel again whenever the snow melts. SOOOOO....my husband said maybe I should try making snowmen all the way down the driveway. It would pick up a lot of snow, and pack down more as I went. If I could just get the undercarriage of the car to clear the top of the snow, I might get out. So...that's our goofy plan. Wish me luck! :rotfl2: So far I have only rolled one giant snowball that is sitting down by the road. Then I was frozen and really tired. I'm thinking this is not going to be a QUICK fix. :lmao:

I don't equate a generous spirit to monetary gifts. I'd rather just be polite to people year round. Don't most employed people provide a service?? As a teacher, I never expected tips or gifts. I think we should tip our pilots when we land.:rotfl:

Hey guys! Just crossed the Alabama line and will be in Mobile in about an hour. So we still got a looong way to go! I shall pop back in after awhile.

my subscription to travel & leisure came the other day, and i just had time to open it (it was in a plastic wrapper this time). inside i found a separate magazine all about disney travel. there's a blurb about a new pet hotel which will open next year! and it sounds really neat, and includes space for the felines!!!! hooray for the kitties!!!!:cat: :cat: :cat: :cat: :cat:

I guess I'm in the minority. Our postman is very sweet and helpful, and he does a great job for us — through snow and sleet, as they say. Our newspaper delivery person is actually a family — mom, dad, and 2 kids — and I don't think they have much money. They are utterly dependable and so pleasant and kind. I'm happy to give both a little something at Christmas to thank them for their job well done all year. I really just thought it was something most folks do. Now, tipping the pilot when the place lands safely — that's not a bad idea!
