Good morning guys
Been really really busy.
We had a dessert buffet Christmas party yesterday. So we spent 2 days cleaning house. Boy did it need it. The party was awesome and I made a fresh no bake fruit cake that was LOVED by all.
I will post the recipe if anyone wants it,
I may even be able to take a picture and post it also.
My stress test results came back and I have NO heart disease, but I still have other symptoms... So more DR visits after the holidays.
We are doing our Christmas gift exchanging on Sat Dec 27.
The only person off on Christmas is DH
Im sorry for anyone suffering from cold and snow
We are having great weather today,
I'll check in later

congratulations on NO heart disease...that's a biggie.

where's my fruit cake? i LOVE fruit cake. (there should be a "who likes fruit cake" thread.)

hi. i mean high.

that was a good point you made...probably we ALL should pay more attention to rush and sean.:thumbsup2

and a very merry christmas to you.

Do they really think we should listen to Al Gore instead? About anything? The guy is certifiable. Every time I see him talk, I think to myself "My God, the lefties are following an absolute lunatic, a seriously mentally ill man, right off the side of a cliff." Oh well, I guess it won't be the first time — or the last — that a total nut case managed to get a bunch of followers, most of whom should have known better.

Hello my Con friends!

Snowed in today. The weather is the worst I've ever seen it. We were going to go to church, but instead we are going to have a little service here instead. The weather is awful and that's a true understatement.
Okay, MM, I gotta ask - you talk about making pierogies as if they're really easy - are they? Or are you just used to making them all the time?

If they're easy, I would love the recipe - pretty please with a potato on top!?!??!
Okay, ready? Here's the recipe:

Go to store.
Buy Mrs. T's Pierogies
Come home
Follow directions on box

Easy as pie!!!

I wish I knew how to make pierogies, but I don't. Schwan's makes good ones too - not as good as my mom's aunts, but almost as good.

SD I'm not that big on steak either. I really only eat it in the summer if my hubby barbecues it for me...and then only as often as I do because I like hot dogs and hamburgers even less. :lmao: Outback is for

and

outback-onion.jpg
Oh my word, that blooming onion looks wonderful!!!! I'd love it. I'm not a seafood person, but that shrimp looks good too.
So true about the mashed potatoes. I'm nervous about this ADR fiasco they've got going on; I don't want to be in the position of not getting Le Cellier because months and months worth of vacationers will be making ADRs at the same time. Whenever that is.

I'll concede the point on the Bloomin' Onion. :rotfl: Not the shrimp though, because I hate seafood. Tuna sandwich once in a while, I can handle. Anything else, not so much.

A local restaurant that has since closed made a bloomin' onion that was so much better than Outback's though. Oh how I miss those.
SD - what's going on with the ADR fiasco? I haven't been to the restaurant board in a while.

I also won't eat seafood. Can't do it. I'll also have a tuna fish sandwich once in a while, but that's it. Oh, and I'll eat tuna casserole during lent, but no fish. Blech. Can't do it. I'm more of a chicken/pork gal - all white meat. I like a burger now and then, very rarely a steak, but I love chicken.

We have Taco Bell/Pizza Hut combos here.

You used to live in Oscoda? I love it up there. We camped there a few years ago. BEAUTIFUL! We canoed the Au Sable River and it was so amazing. I'd love to go back.
Oscoda is a beautiful place. I love the Catholic church there - it has a huge window behind the altar which can make it very distracting during Mass when you see water skiiers and jet skis going by behind the priest. :rotfl:

Maybe it's because they've misnamed the issue. It isn't global warming afterall, it's "Global Weather Redistribution." Trendy, eh?
:worship:

YAYon the no heart disease! That's wonderful news! I hope they are able to find out what's going on with you soon, but that's a big relief!

I'd love to seed your recipe and would also love to see pictures!

Hi Guys!

A new home and already 8 pages in! Such a talky group. I've been busy with work, Christmas-related planning, and I've been baking like crazy. I've popped in from time to time, only to find that SNOW and COLD are all part of Global Warming's master plan! Uh-huh. And then the unicorns flew back to their pink cloud, but they said they'd visit again another day. :rotfl:

I can't believe Christmas is in 5 days. It always zooms up on us like that, doesn't it? I still have a little shopping to do, and of course more to bake. What's everyone doing for Christmas dinner? I'm doing ham and beef tenderloin (maybe that on the grill if we can dig it out of the snow!).

Well, talk to you all soon!

(Oh, yeah, I added an avatar. Tink, cuz she's sassy and spoiled like me!)
Hi Loco! Glad you could join us. I need a new avatar too. Maybe I'll work on that later today.

when i see al on t.v. now, my mouth automatically and uncontrollably makes a "pffffffft" sound. such a strange affliction.

i read that poster's nasa article. by all other accounts i have dived into, it is true that water absorbs and maintains most of the earth's heat, but it doesn't say any ice is melting because of my car use. just that ice seems to be melting at a faster rate and the sea level is rising. wasn't it about 15 years ago we were "entering a new ice age" though?

addition: i meant to say that the concept of water rataining heat on earth is a concept i've understood since my earth science class...we get that. i also remember hearing that it was at the beginning of the industrial revolution that earth experienced it's highest temperatures for an extended period of time. so it couldn't have been autos, factories, etc. causing the trouble. IF it is trouble.

MM>> Those are NOT pierogies! and you know better! LOL

Deb#4>. No heart disease is good!

Its windy, its cold, and we have to drive to Fraser later for a hockey game.

Has anyone from WA checked in this morning?

Oh, but Deb, they are close and better than nothing. Not like my Polish aunts make, but still quite good believe it or not (especially when fried in butter and onion - yum!)

Ignore is your friend. :) It's amazing how fast those threads go when you have a few people on ignore. It's always the same people too, so it goes super quickly.

Let them think what they think. Who cares what they think? I surely don't. No man is perfect, not even Bill Clinton. :rotfl2:

OK, I will admit to owning the giant bag from Sam's club. My kids and I are addicted to them and use them as comfort food. My brother is bringing some for Christmas Eve from a deli in West Bloomfield of all places. They're authentic and delicious!

If we don't feed that link, it will go away. I have faith!

Good night, hope you feel better tomorrow - again, that's a real drag - first you get sick, now you've gone to the dentist, all on your Christmas break!

Thanks! I feel so bad complaining.

I like that! :rotfl

Charade- I just saw that. So sad. If they are going to constantly going to pick on President Bush and belittle his accomplishments, then I guess I am going to have to just expect that much more from H when he takes office.

If you sign up at their website they send you great coupons to use a few times a year, especially for your B-day and Anniversary. The last one I got was buy one get one free.

Great idea! I just signed up and they gave me a 25% off one. Someone mentioned that it's like Ohana's, and I'd say, kind of, but better. Shhh...don't tell Mickey! ;)

Well I'll get started since Breezy hasn't popped in yet-

And some tiramisu to finish us off...

The tiramisu made me drool on my keyboard-that looks really good!

We are a talkin' bunch, aren't we! :hyper2:

JK, We have those too when we don't want to drive to Hamtramck. ;)

MM>> Those are NOT pierogies! and you know better! LOL

When I don't make them, we get ours from Srodek's. In fact DH is making a trip down there tomorrow to get the sausage, keishka (YUK!) and pierogies.

:hyper2:

Let just say that I have never eaten so much steak in all my life like I did at Texas De Brazil. They would bring around these sausage links and I would look at them like they were crazy! No way was I going to eat sausage when the next guy was bringing steak!:cool1:

I'm so glad your heart checked out okay. Hugs and best wishes with the rest of the tests. I hope that news lets you relax a little more and enjoy Christmas. And I'd love to take a gander at a no-bake fruitcake recipe. I'll admit that I dislike fruitcake...but I'm still intrigued.

Hi Guys!

Could someone please give me step by step instructions
Also note that I am a techno illieriate

You know, there is a HUGE Polish population here in my town, you think I'd find authentic pierogies up here, but nope, Mrs. T's has to do.

My mom's side of the family are all from Hamtramck. I miss it down there, BUT the Polish sausage up here is, by far, the best I have ever had. The ladies make it in our school cafeteria during Lent. I want to help this year because I want to know how to make it. They also make punchkies. Yum!!

Where is Scrodek's? Maybe I'll ask my parents to run over there before they come up next week. I'm sure they know where it is, but just in case.

Ward - do you have a recipe for pierogies? I'd love to make some. Do you make your own pasta for it too?

Hey, thanks for letting me know about the new home, Michelle 67.

Dag you all have been busy. My computer is very sluggish Since I added Itunes and skype. Sheeze I'm sitting here typing and can't see the words for about 15 secs.

The spouses' employer has been absolutely awesome regarding this deployment. They're going to install a video camera to allow us to communicate with each other on this deployment. AMAZING.
My employer is doing the paper work to pay me a "differential" pay that will bring my mil pay up to civ pay.

Now if I could just figure out how to stuff my spouse in the duffle bag to join me. hehehehe

Hey everyone. I'm new to the conservative thread :)

Hope all of you have a great Christmas!

Okay, what's keishka? Could it possibly be any worse than haggas? (:lmao: I'm Scot/Irish)

Glad you made it. :) If you figure out that duffle bag thing let me know. We need to get two kids in there too...but they are small.

Hi and welcome!

DH is polish and lived in Hamtramck until he was 3, his grandma used to live down there though. He goes there all the time. He can even speak Polish. All I can say is "Na moovia Popolsku" (sp?) It means "I don't speak Polish" I use that a lot when I'm in Hamtramck(which isn't very often). Most people think I can speak it because DH can.

Address for Srodek's:
9601 Joseph Campau St
Hamtramck, MI 48212

I'll look for the recipe in a little while and PM you with it. I'm off to take a well deserved nap right now. I was out shoveling this morning, then Christmas shopping, I'm pooped!

Michelle67 - Keishka is NASTY! Well, I never tried it but I read the ingredients while I was pregnant with DD8 and I literally lost my lunch. Anything that has blood as one of the ingredients is off limits in my book.

I googled it to get a recipe for you.

KEESHKA
4 pig's feet, split
2 lbs. pig snouts
1 lb. port steak
1 onion
4 whole black peppercorns
1 tblsp.salt
3 lbs. pork liver 5 lbs. buckwheat groats
6 large onions
1 tblsp. ground allspice
2 tblsp. ground marjoram salt & pepper
1 pint fresh pig's blood

Oh, and did I mention

FTR, I'm Irish. :cutie: I've only learned about this stuff in the last 10 years from DH. ;)
