II do get more of my national weather information from y'all here than I do elsewhere - thanks to y'all I know that it's -20 in AK [cannot even imagine how cold that must be, Deb - you need to put an extra sweater on our Jack!], it's snowing in Washington State, it did snow in LA, there's ice up in MI -- zowie - what a breadth of information. I just love this group of people!

Thought you might like to know that it's a balmy 51 degrees here in Canandaigua, NY this morning. It's supposed to be a beautiful day.

lol it was 79 degrees here yesterday in North Texas. Currently it is 25 with a high expected of 33.

Gotta love Texas weather. The saying here is "if you don't like the weather...wait 5 minutes."

It was 49 when I woke up at 5:50. An hour later it was 40, now it is 33 at 9:00 am. I think our low is supposed to be 14 this afternoon. To say that it is windy is an understatement! Comcast has been more off than on so this might be the only time you see me today! (cancel that.. its now 28)

Have a good day, everyone! Tie everything down before the cold front hits if you're east of me!

It's currently 23 with a high of 29 today. The roads are snowy and iced. Fun.

I can't speak for everyone - but I don't believe any offense was taken by regular thread members. Lurkers, on the other hand, :confused3

I'm a former Bible college grad, evangelical, fundamentalist-Bible-church-attender-all-my-life person myself - and have been so excited to 'meet' all of these great conservatives from every walk of life. Heck, I've even found some nice Yankees! Who knew? *ducking from the size 10 shoes that Deb #1, Teresa, Hilarie and MM are just about to throw*

I think it's been a trip to chat on different levels - however, I am more than a little dismayed that, thanks to the likes of Tink, SD and Soarin' [just to name a few], I'm considered one of the 'older' cons. What's up with that? Since when did 1967 become ancient history?!??!?!?! yeeesshhh!
I'm a Bible-thumper, too, so no offense taken here when someone starts with the God-talk. Shoot, even if wonder started talking about why she doesn't believe in God it wouldn't offend me in the slightest because she wouldn't sit and tell us why we're all idiots for believing in God. Just as none of us would ever call her names for not believing.
As for being an older con, well, Soarin' makes me feel old, too, so don't worry.
But I don't feel too bad because one of my buddies from hs told me I haven't aged a day. So hahahahaha. :rotfl:

aww, I hope you get everything done without getting too pooped. 4 am airport - ack! I wouldn't be able to sleep the night before.

When do you get back home?
Get back home at 11 pm on Christmas. I'm already pooped. I have to finish packing today and I'm going to try and get to bed early tonight. I have to get up at about 1:45, 2 in the morning. I normally wouldn't sleep, either, but I get up at 5:30 am every morning so I'm usually tired by midnight.

I left my weather report, and forgot to throw my yankee hockey skate at another deb! LOL To make it worse, she's a year YOUNGER than I am! LOL

*crossing fingers I keep my connection. I have to keep reloading pages today, but so far I'm at least partly connected!*

Yeah, my internet keeps acting up, too. I try to remember to copy my posts so that if I lose it I don't lose what I typed.

Blonde question of the day, but what does Hilarie with an "H" mean?? Could you have Hilarie with some other letter??:confused3

Hello everyone - snow day today! The roads are AWFUL here. I had to go out and make a deposit for our taxes today. If I wouldn't have put it off on Friday, I wouldn't have had to go out today. Be safe if you're in a bad weather area. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with a snow day tomorrow too.

I'm still not done with this stocking and I have another one to do before Christmas. :scared:

Have a great day today!

Pre-Inauguration, "Distraction" Scandal #2 heating up??? Richardson has always seem like a straight guy to me, but if Richardson had a "R" after this name, I can only imagine how this would play in the press:
Grand Jury Probes Richardson Donor’s New Mexico Financing Fee

Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- A federal grand jury is investigating how a company that advised Jefferson County, Alabama, on bond deals that threaten to cause the biggest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history, did similar work in New Mexico after making contributions to Governor Bill Richardson’s political action committees.

The grand jury in Albuquerque is looking into Beverly Hills, California-based CDR Financial Products Inc., which received almost $1.5 million in fees from the New Mexico Finance Authority in 2004 after donating $100,000 to Richardson’s efforts to register Hispanic and American Indian voters and pay for expenses at the Democratic National Convention in 2004, people familiar with the matter said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation asked current and former officials from the state agency if any staff members in the governor’s office influenced CDR’s hiring, said the people, who declined to be identified because the proceedings are secret. Richardson, who is President-elect Barack Obama’s designate for Commerce Secretary, has a staff of at least 30 people.

“They’re looking at everything related to CDR,” William Sisneros, the finance agency’s chief executive officer, said of the FBI probe. “They’re just trying to evaluate all the relationships to see what CDR was doing for the money.”

Hello, everyone. It's raining here!! Yay! It is so refreshing and beautiful. You all probably think I'm crazy, but we don't get a lot of rain here. :goodvibes

mkingdomlvr...I live in Wasilla, Alaska. I have lots of friends who attend that church. It is very sad.

They are treating it as arson. There were five women, and possibly a couple of children, inside when it happened. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
That makes me so sad to know that people do things like that. It boggles my mind. I just don't understand. I am so happy that those people made it out safely.
blestmom- I meant to ask. Do you know if Bristol had her baby, yet?

I'm not even attempting to catch up! Nine more days! I can't believe I'm finally able to say our trip is NEXT WEEK! :jumping1:

Is there a website that has info about the CP? I'm wondering if that is something my nieces might be interested in after they graduate. They're still freshman, but don't know what they want to do when finish school.

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was wonderful!

We went to a church not far from here that puts on a "Living Christmas" display. It was really something special. We had to wait 3 hours to go through it but it was worth it. It's a drive through show, if you will. It tells the story of the birth, life, and death of Jesus Christ. You get a CD for your car which narrates the story while church members act out the scenes. They had real animals (camels, sheep, donkeys), authentic costumes, roaring fires, a bustling marketplace... the works. It was amazing. During the wait they had carolers, goodie bags for the kids, free hot chocolate and cookies, and pizza for sale. The scenes where Jesus dies and the end scene where Jesus welcomes people into Heaven moved me to tears. The entire thing was free (except the pizza, lol). They say it is their gift to the community. So many people showed up. It was so heartwarming to see so many people come to a Christian event. It really helped put the holiday in perspective.

Afterward we drove through our city looking at Christmas lights. This one house we went to goes all out every year. It's like Clark Griswold's house, but even more over the top! People come from all over to see it. We stopped to walk around and the owner was handing out candy canes to the kids. It was so fun!

I am truly in the Christmas spirit now. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
That sounds so neat!

My radio station played this song this morning. Thought it was kind of funny. It's a parody on Sleigh Ride by the Carpenters. You've all probably heard it before, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5nJnNAkJDU

Ok, there's no way I'm going back to catch up. ;)

Can't stay long, I'm in "comfort food" mode....

There was a discussion on the notion of it being racist, inappropriate, or somehow otherwise offensive to refer to Obama as "H", even though it is just as much his initial as "W" is GWBs. Hilarie said she didn't find her initial offensive, and didnt' mind being called "H." It's a bit of a joke on the OS I guess. ;)

Wow, Tink...it has warmed up to 32* over here! Well, maybe it has, or maybe my sensor is in direct sun right now. :)) It's COLD and windy outside. I took the dog out to do his business and neither one of us was interested in lingering outside! I need to walk down to the compost and get rid of my covered bowl full of coffee grounds and orange peels, but I don't wanna. Brrrrrrrr. It was 22* when I walked the kids to the bus this morning.

And then I just spent an hour troubleshooting a new wireless adapter for my son's computer which refused to find the network. I tried everything under the sun until suddenly my husband remembered....ooh wait, Shaun doesn't have a wireless card. Grrrr. Haha

Thanks, now I don't feel so blonde.:lmao:
