Ok sorry West Coaster catching up. I see the Humphrey Bear in VS has been covered. My apologies!

It actually fits him because the holiday lets a bunch of Government workers accomplish nothing while get paid from the sweat of hard working tax payers who do not get the day off and have to actually do a job.

:goodvibes

:lmao: :thumbsup2

I think I just lost my dinner...
:rotfl2:

Well, it's approaching the witching hour and I have to work tomorrow, so I'm going to sign off now.

Just one thing before I go - I would love to have some shiny balls for my signature when I log on tomorrow. Can someone help me out here please?

(yup, I'm not above shamelessly seeking tags and shiny balls!)

Good night everyone! Don't stay up too late! :rotfl: :rotfl:
 :scared: :lmao:

I just hurled up those Doritos and Oreos....

:scared:

I sent it to ya. Now you have shiny balls.

:3dglasses :lmao:

Funny stuff.

It's going good. I've got all the messages ready, and just a couple of days ago a friend who has a scrapbooking story sent me a huge package with scrapbook supplies, so I'm working on putting it all together.

Glad to hear that! I have so much scrapbooking supplies from WDW and Disney-themed stuff from craft stores, but I never get around to working on any of them. I started a scrapbook on my sorority experience way back in 2004 and here I am 4 and a half years later, and I still have 3 more semesters worth of pictures to go. :rolleyes1

T&G, I looked for discount deals online, and I found jacksquat! I'm assuming it's harder to get good deals there because there's less parks and Disney wants to maximize money? It's so odd. I was sure there'd be some kind of timeshare offer, but I guess that's a thing companies around WDW do and not DL. I'll continue to check tomorrow.

Alright all, I'm going to call it a night myself. Day flew by, and I'm zonked. Talk to y'all tomorrow! :goodvibes

Mmmmmmmmm! Thank you! I go to a cookie exchange every year which is more like a goodie exchange, you can make any type of sweet treat to share. The host loooooooooves mint. I think I will give this a try. I think everyone will love it :thumbsup2

You're welcome!!! I bought the fixings to make a batch either this weekend or one day next week.

I must disagree with you on this one. Just the fact that it's a GIFT CARD given out by PP makes me sick to my stomach. That is way over the line. :sad2:

I think it's a very creepy gift. There's just something about that's very very wrong.

Nor do I usually, but in this case I think it's nasty to have a prepaid abortion card.

If you don't understand, it means that you lack the ability to see issues from a perspective other than your own. I can understand why some people wouldn't have an issue with this. You don't have to agree with people in order to comprehend the reasons something may or may not offend them.

Thanks for the many different answers. I can understand that people who are not Pro-choice would not support Planned Parenthood, Swedish Meatball, and give a Gift Card from them. I do not lack the ability to see things from others perspectives. I was asking an honest question, I did not understand why a card intended for medical services was abhorrent, I guess it would have been better to ask if the card would be offensive if it was only intended for preventative medical procedures? From what I read, that is its actual purpose?

Is it that you are not supporters Planned Parenthood, that is the issue? I get the dislike of PP from people who are Pro-Life. If a local hospital that was Pro-Life offered gift cards for medical services, would that be okay?

I agree that the idea of a Planned Parenthood gift card is strange, wonderlanne, I would think a regular Visa gift card would make more sense, personally. Or even better some Disney Dollars! Emily Post may indeed need to add that to her list of faux-paux! Gifts of medical services = social no-no. :snooty:

The only reason I could see for giving one, was if you knew someone who was neglecting their health, and were hoping to get them into take care of routine female health exam? Planned Parenthood, while some clinics do offer abortion services, is also inexpensive to go, and they offer reduced rates priced to your financial situation. For some women it is the only place they have to get female health care.

I did not come in to get a rise out of anyone here, it is sad that the board has become a place where an honest question is circumspect. :confused3 I thank everyone who took the time to answer me. :goodvibes I love learning about other's beliefs and reasoning. I was always taught asking questions was a good thing! (Hippie parents :hippie: )

(I read both of the politics threads as I'm not a Liberal or a Conservative, I fall someplace in the middle. I vote for who I think is the best candidate at the time, regardless of party platforms. I do happen to be pro-choice. Not for myself, I'm against abortion, personally. I just don't like to legislate my morals on to others.)

I picked out this part of your post because I agree with you, at least to a point. As it happens, PP does NOT perform abortions where I live, and they are the primary or only source of gynocological health for many women without healthcare insurance, including myself for many years. I can see that point, I just still feel that a PP gift card is completely creepy.

So you think people are outraged at the thought of women using a gift card to have such things as a pap smear?? I wasn't getting that vibe from any of the posters. I did see comments about it being offensive as it pertained to abortions. If you can see how some people don't support abortions, then it shouldn't be much of a stretch for you to see how using a gift card for such a procedure would also be something that they wouldn't support.

Also, I know that your use of "you" was in general terms, but there are several on this thread who don't think abortion should be illegal, including me.

even based on the premise that PP does offer other services besides abortion, giving a gift card for this reason is a little like giving a vegetarian a gift card to a steak place -- how many people go to Ruth's Chris for the salads?

Oh - The Travel Channel is showing Disney stuff on Thursday [today!] - I think at night, Samantha Brown is going to Disney for Christmas! [it's a rerun, I believe]

Cutting out another snipet because I was thinking about that last bit. I don't know, Finny. It still weirds me out. Maybe not quite as much, but still distasteful. Something about...happy birthday _____, go have a liposuction on me! Or something. I don't know. I just find the entire concept very weird. Hmmm, but you said preventative services specifically....so liposuction is just kinda silliness on my part. I still gotta say no, I'd find it just bizarre no matter what sort of medical services were in question. I'd find it weird to get/give a gift card to the dentist too. Isn't that kinda like the dreaded handing out of toothbrushes for Halloween? :lmao: Yeah I know I'm being flip, but I'm honestly considering your questions and this is the sort of stuff that pops into my head. Which leads me to conclude that it's just weird to think of getting or giving a gift card of that nature. :confused3 Yet still I will admit that I find PP particularly weird, and downright distasteful as I said before. I have nothing in particular against PP at all, I repeat that they do NOT do abortions in my area, and I have used their services for many years when I was younger. Totally wouldn't have felt comfortable getting a gift card to go there, just the same.

Forgive me for rambling, but it's late and I'm tired, and my brain defaults to ramble mode when not strenuously restrained into order, which I don't have the energy for right now.

You know, the first thing I thought of when reading that is India.

Every since the election Obama has been holding press conferences, as some of the lib pundits claim: “acting Presidential”, calling CA to offer services to help with the wildfires (even though he's not currently in a real position to offer services), ect..ect..

Some of his supporters think that Bush should step down right this second (never mind the Constitution) and let Obama step up to “fix everything wrong with this country". In essence, he’s already trying to take over his Presidential duties.

Until India. Where’s Obama? He makes a call and says “Well, there’s only one President at this time” Really? You’ve been trying to act all Presidential the last couple of weeks and as soon as the going gets tough you bail. What are you going to do next month when Bush is no longer there to handle any of the hard issues that arise?

I think Obama’s going to be worse than Carter. He will not know how to handle anything. He’s never had to. He’s never done much of anything except run for his next position.

I have a bar of that sitting on our dining room table right now! :lovestruc I don't like milk chocolate really, but I love me some dark chocolate. It's actually quite heart healthy, too.
:lmao:

::yes:: Dark chocolate is heart healthy. Gotta love that! :thumbsup2

Well, of course I don't post here. Wouldn't dream of interrupting you charming ladies as you talk about your drawers, but I couldn't help but laugh at this one! Not that I would wish anything awful on Rush. Why, it's just so terrible that he had that little bitty old drug problem. I certainly hope it doesn't effect his . . . judgement or anything.

Ta ta, ladies.

You know, I really feel sorry for you.

Jack update:

I picked up a little bed for him on Black Friday. It's so small, a loaf of bread won't fit length-wise in there...

He's so cute! He reminds me so much of our dog when he was a puppy. He will grow.. just not a lot!

AHHH I forgot about this! I can't seem to be able to compose a paragraph that gets my thoughts down correctly! I will try to work on it today if it isn't too late.
