I'm not buying that tryptophan hype either. When you gorge, you sleep! Fact of life. We had thanksgiving lunch then a nap and reruns for dinner. Makes the day much easier.

That was the order of the day here. That's the only way to go.

As a former Navy wife, sister to two former Marines and SIL to an Army medic who just started his second tour in Iraq; I wholeheartedly secong that request.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Ours went very well, and even though we ate at 3:00, I still can't think about food. Even in these trying unsure times we all have much to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We just returned from a day trip to Pennsylvania to have dinner with the whole family. We had 26 this year - it was a small year. But we had a great time. It is never long enough, though. Many of us just go for the day. So, we drive for a few hours, eat, clean up, visit for a short while then drive home. But at least we all get to sit around the same table and visit for a few short hours. Hope everyone - friends and visitors - enjoyed the holiday.

No, I don't feel like I ate too much. But that could be because I did all the cooking and most of the cleaning up (my own fault - I get a wee bit controlling when it comes to my kitchen; why? I have no idea ). My back and neck are feeling it now (arthritis). Took some Aleve, got a cup of tea, and am now relaxing (finally).

All in all, a good day. Great weather, great food (if I must say so myself ) and my mother only drove me crazy once! Doesn't get any better than that.

Our day was very laid back and wonderful. Seventeen of us for lunch...all my kids and their families, my mom, step-dad, brother and grandmother. Good food, great company....I couldn't have asked for a better day.

Scanning over the last several pages I see that we had quite a bit of company today. Some comments just serve to remind me that liberals HATE conservatives, and see us as a threat that must be silenced and eliminated. I think they want us to be afraid to speak out, and look forward to the day when we cease to exist. In many ways they fancy us as enemies. Their aggressive intolerance is easy to read and luckily easy to throw back in their face.

I am not trying to stir up trouble, but rather start a discussion.

I have not posted on the liberal thread in months and I have certainly never been a regular poster there.

I have not said anything over the last 8 years because I have not been on here for the last 8 years. I have participated in political discussion and I have already admitted that I am more liberal than conservative. My reason for doing this now is because I, like many other posters on the Dis, have grown weary with all the name calling. I simply asked how does it end and can't one group simply rise above it all and stop.

As you can see from some of the other posts here today, I'm not the only one to feel so.

Personally, no you did not offend me. I'd probably be more receptive if I thought you guys had gone over to the "other" thread and given some outspoken people over there a lecture as well. I don't read it, so I won't know if you already did or if you ever will. It would have the ring of sincerity to me, though, is all I'm saying. Maybe we're just a little touchy about being asked to play nice when we are feeling very attacked and slandered with accusations that many of us consider offensive in the extreme. There aren't many worse (or less true) things you can say to me than to call me a racist. I know that a number of people here are making a concerted effort to stay OFF political threads except this one (which really is more of a chit chat thread than anything else) which is the best way we can keep from being drawn into ugliness. It doesn't always work, though. We do sometimes feel the need to defend ourselves, our beliefs, our points of view, or our values.

Yeah but we aren't going to stay quiet. More and more will join us as Obama's true colors (OK all you lurkers, THERE, I said his LAST NAME!!! Happy?) begin to show, and the libs will panic as they lose more and more people. We'll be victorious in the end, and they know it.
