Well, I recall back, during the primaries, a CNN correspondent went to Texas to cover the Democratic primaries (b/c we have this stupid Texas 2 step thing that proved caucuses are pile of crap. Anyways.. I digress..) He was shooting from San Antonio and in front of the Alamo. He was dressed in a Cowboy hat and boots b/c it’s Texas, you know. Everyone in Texas wears Cowboy hats and boots. Urban myth alert. Urban myth alert.Needless to say. He showed to be the only one wearing a Cowboy hat and boots and just looked like an out of place dork on national television. But, hey, if CNN is there – maybe you can see some pretend cowboys. Otherwise, you’re probably out of luck. In any of our cities, you won't see the stereotypical "Cowboy" stuff very often. We dress just like the rest of the United States. Heck, I grew up in a mid to large town (not a city) and even there maybe only 1% of the student body was "Cowboy". My impression is, if you want "Cowboy" go to small towns in west Texas... but I've never been to small towns in west Texas so I don't know for sure.

I know that you guys don't dress like that in Texas. I'm just playin'. I think I have to go out into the country to find a real cowboy. There's one cowboy I wish I'd see... and he's in Crawford!

One thing to keep in mind is that the grounds of the Alamo were much larger in 1836. Only the chapel and the long barracks are still there, but it's still a moving experience when you visit it. Not far away is the Rivercenter Mall. They show an Imax movie called Alamo: The Price of Freedom. It's about an hour long (give or take) and is worth seeing if you're going to see the Alamo.The Riverwalk has so many good places to eat. I'm jealous. I live three hours away and don't get to SA nearly as much as I would like.

Hmm, I'll have to look into seeing the IMAX. Thanks for the tip. I love those type of movies. I'm excited about going there. I think it's going to be really interesting. We don't have stuff that old where I live.

Hey, i havent had time to read every post in this thread. This may have already been asked, but who do you think will be the best person to run for POTUS in 2012 for the GOP. I am so excited that the GOP house stood together against the bailout. Heres to hoping we take back the house in 2010 and then restore a true leader to the White House in 2012.

For me, right now I just don't know. I'm going to be watching over the next couple years for someone who is a strong, principled conservative.

The only person that I think of when I hear Crawford is Bush and I don't consider him to be a cowboy. Besides, aren't they moving to Dallas? I mean, I'm sure they'll keep their Crawford ranch..

I sadly would have to suggest to not put our best out out there. I am afraid that unless Obama falls under 50% in approval ratings (it can go either way, in depends on the public view of the stimulus package), we would just waste one of our better candidates. And I am not really sure of who runs as I am not that familiar with all the Republicans out there. I have heard Jindal's name thrown around. If he is that good, then lets hold off on him unless Obama alienates the whole nation from him. I know many of you believe he is already doing that, but lets take a wait and see approach and see what happens. I hope the GOP takes this into consideration.

I tried to find the picture but couldn't...there's a pic of him in his cowboy hat, fixing fence posts on his ranch while he was on vacation.
I haven't heard that they're moving to Dallas. As far as I've heard them say, they're extremely glad to be home and are going to enjoy it.

So I see that a new thread was made about Obama making a promise or something to not run another term if the Stimulus does not work...is that correct or am I miss understanding the thread?

I love your new tag! I completely agree. Republican or Dem, they could all use a good smack in the head.
