I would've added kissing the mirror but I think he also kisses his pictures; anything with his reflection. Must make it awful to wear glasses around him. :rotfl:

ew. just...ew.:sad2: can you imagine taking out your compact to powder your nose around him? wrestling match.

john mccain just sent e-mail. wants us to know he'll be on face the nation sunday. (big deal

Diane Feinstein said she won't vote for a package that's too small.

Really??

she said she's unhappy that they took out all the money for school construction. i don't blame her. they're spending an awful lot on making their offices look pretty, but forget teaching the nation's children anything...they don't matter.

won't "vote for a package that's too small" ??

oh soooooo many ways to interpret this....

But the removal of school funds irritates me. The State of CA eminent domained land from part of our family's ranch for a new high school. Its supposed to be opened this fall. They halted construction yesterday and told all of the workers to go home. Thats stimulating the economy for sure. And what was the point of the state taking some of the land if now nobody is going to make use of it??

She's now agreed to go ahead and vote yes, but warns that this is as good as it's going to get. So go ahead and cave now, you dirty Republicans.:rotfl:

I heard a blurb earlier something about how Obama had made a promise that when he took office, bills would be put up on the WH website, and the public would be given 5 days to offer their input. A WH spokesperson said that they're still working on getting that up and running. My, how convenient.

stupid. happens all the time and it's stupid.

do you remember those homeowners (some other state) whose homes were taken and demolished so a developer could put in some giant hotel and resort? it's been something like six years, and the land is just sitting there. and the reason their homes were taken was for the tax revenue from the hotel. SHEESH!

i went to that site earlier today. it still just says he's planning to do that. yyyyeeeeaaahhhhh...uh huh....

:grouphug: I have been there. I know what you are feeling. My daughter was diagnosed with Diffused B-Cell Lymphoma in September. She finished her last chemo January 6. Pet scan came back clear, no tumors anywhere. :) She is now in remission. She gets her port out Wednesday. :cheer2:

I call her tonight and she is down. Previously her oncologist said that she would need Ritoxin (chemo drug) once every six months for two years. Well now today, he says that he is not sure about this. He is going to a conference and depending on the new research she may not need it (or in his words, it might not make any difference.) Seriously, does he not know that this makes his patients worry? We have decided to do the Ritoxin regardless of what the new fangled research says. This is not a chemo drug that makes you sick or makes you lose your hair. The other chemo drugs (CHOP) have made her lose her hair and made her sick.

We might just go to Moffitt Cancer Center and get a second opinion. I have really trusted this doctor until he said this today. I'm sending prayers to your mom and to you. I know how much stress this can bring on a family. You will be surprised how much courage your mom has. I know my daughter has truly amazed me through this. She is my hero and she has made this mom mighty proud.
Thanks so much for the prayers and telling us all about your daughter. She and you are very brave. Y'all will be in my prayers, too.

I just want to say that this thread has the bravest women on it! SD and sarasotamom, you are both obviously great caregivers and I hope and pray your loved ones will be well soon. :grouphug:

My take on docs: sometimes I think they are overly cautious because of the possibility of litigation. Wish sometimes they were more intuitive, though.
Thanks, DMOK. I think you're right too about the fear of being sued... everything these days is also about covering their behinds to prevent lawsuits. Which I can understand, but it's still ridiculous.

CB, I appreciate all of the information. The part about chemo and then radiation not being necessary is not what we have been told. It was said from the time she met with the surgeon that she was getting radiation, no matter what else they did. What is adding to the confusion is that the surgeon is the top surgeon and top oncologist in the state. He's one of the best in the whole country. This isn't just some guy who talks a big game and doesn't have the knowledge to back it up, hence his conflicting opinion makes little sense to us. He says he can look at the paperwork and figure what treatment will be based on all of his other patients. He told her with the same results she would probably need pills, but with them and regular check-ups and mammograms and radiation, it would be managed fine. Patients just like her are treated the same way, supposedly. So why the other doctor is saying something different makes no sense to us. Beyond that, we're having some additional concerns with the other doctor right now. Got a letter from the surgeon's office today saying the tumor was sent off for the extra testing on Wednesday by order of the other doctor. He did not tell my mother the truth when he said it would be sent Thursday. She was supposed to be asked and had to give consent, and all kinds of financial information beforehand. This is mostly because insurance will not cover it because it is not deemed as a necessary test (and we don't have bad insurance, either). Today they said it'll cost $4,000 and not $3,000. So when she was asked for consent for it to be sent off yesterday, it had already been sent off and testing had already been started on it. I am not pleased, and neither is she. Yes, she consented, but the point is it was already being done before she consented. What if she had said no??? "Oops, sorry, already done, and here's your 4K bill for it." :sad2: What was the point of asking for consent to send it off and test it again, if it had already been sent off and testing had already started? That's wrong, IMO. So I'm just really not liking this man at the moment.

I don't think of it all in terms of she has a "great chance of surviving;" that's just upsetting to me to think of it in those terms. She will survive. No one has told us anything to indicate she won't. They've all said people far worse off than her do fine; you can't get much better than Level 1, Stage 1, non-aggresive, slow growing, etc. I really appreciate you taking the time to post everything and share your knowledge.

Why couldn't he just get in a limo and drive to Williamsburg. (With the secret service of course) Talk about a giant carbon footprint. If I remember right, I think it took us less than 2 hours to get to Williamsburg from DC. The Kingsmill Resort is very nice. Not much to do there in the winter though. Busch Gardens is closed, too cold for the golf course, playing tennis might warm you up. They have a very nice spa and many great resturants. They have an awesome Sunday brunch.

Does he not realize that he is doing what all CEOs are doing?
If traffic's not terrible, it should take around 3 hours.

When did you go there? I've always loved Williamsburg. Duke of Gloucester Street is still one of my favorite places to be at. :goodvibes

Anybody see this yesterday?

Military Drops Cole Bombing Charges ... For Now and Possibly Forever

I think this is a reaaaaaaaaaaally bad idea for all of us, as it signals to our enemies that we are weak.

I feel just terrible for the families of those who died on the USS Cole.

I am thinking the "Bush Lied" crowd will view this as a victory.

Funny, that.
The Cole is based in a Navy town not too far from me. When the bombing happened, there were no words for how horrible it was around here. People didn't know if their husband, father, brother, son, wife, mother, daughter, friends or neighbors were among the dead. No one knew anything. I didn't know for days if a friend of mine was dead or not. Thank God, she was fine. Others weren't so lucky. We've all been waiting for justice for a long time, and now let's just drag it out longer. :rolleyes2 I wouldn't be surprised if charges were never filed against the terrorist again. I think this seems like just the first step in that direction. Time goes on and people forget I guess, but many don't. I haven't.

When I first heard this news last night on ABC, I almost threw up. People on the other side can rationalize this all they want and say how great it is and how great he's being to the families, but I still say it's sick and it's wrong and it is the most despicable thing that man has done since taking the Oath of Office. The bombing tore the lives apart of many people in this area, and now we just drop the charges. Obama is spitting in the face of this area and all the people who died, all for his own warped political goals. He makes me ill. :sad2:

Another good article here. Democrat Bob Beckel write: Democrats: Beware of Michael Steele.

A taste:

From Beckel's pen to God's ears.
Thanks for posting, good to read.

We should at least give Obama credit for not attempting to offer the Marine a fist bump. :teeth:
:lmao:

Amazingly, I think the entire 22% are on the Disboards!:)

Rachel:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:
That, and in college campuses across the country.

Guess what I am eating AT THIS VERY MOMENT?!?! :teeth: My clam chowder! CHH is open late tonight!
Yay!

come on, pr, how do YOU explain what happened today?
Well first, I woke up.

Then I had breakfast. It was french toast and an omelet. Had a glass of orange juice, glass of water and an espresso.

Then I went to the beach. I surfed.

Then I went back home, showered, cleaned up, and went to class.

Then we had a healthy debate about Puerto Rico's role as an independent nation, where we could position ourselves as the Singapore of the Caribbean. But we realize that the US would lose it's easternmost and southernmost Atlantic outpost (ie- first line of defense from this side of the world) and as a result, they'd never give us independence.

So we discussed the upcoming baseball season. I'm quite sad to think that the Yankees have a shot this year.

Then, off to starbucks, to leech of their wifi and get some work done. I'm about 60% done on an export market coffee packaging for a small PR based producer. After this, I began outlining some papers I need to write this week.

After that was done, an early dinner. Cheeseburger (with American and Cheddar), fries, 2 beers, and a bottle of water.

Then, I drove home, where I am now.

That's how I explained what happened.

You just didn't specify what 'what' was :)

so what's goin' on, noodlehead? you in the u.s. still? i think you mentioned travel in your future.
I am. I'm living in Puerto Rico fulltime now. After my layoff (well, not really a layoff... more of a last one hired, first one fired situation. I wasn't there long enough to get anything), my travel habit became costly, and the job search was detracting from my studies.

So I have sublet my apartment, shipped my earthly possessions to PR, and relocated at least temporarily back to PR.

In the near future, I hope to actually move to the DC or NYC area. I've been searching for work, and if I can find a job in DC that pays $65k+/yr, or one in NY for $80k+/yr, I might just take it. It'd be a pay cut from what I've previously earned, but right now, I'll take what I get.

Don't worry. It's been the same old..same old. Just more lip service from the empty suit...aka Obama. Bad republicans..it's all Bush's fault. Good dems...Obama's going to save the world. yada, yada, yada...

heh... that's how I felt about the Bush administration.

Funny how things change when the mirror's on the other side.

you're a nut. :)

SD, I spoke to family who are stationed in VA. They said that most are stunned at the decision and are not happy with it. FIL said that those of us who didn't vote for bho are paying for the stupidity of the ones who did.
